I know I will get some comments of that I am throwing my money away playing War but my wife and I had a great time playing at Paris. It was fun to just sit down not have to think and really for us every time we played basically broke even or made a little bit. It was fun to talk to other players at the table with no real thinking. I have played most of the games but I had a good time just sitting with my wife and playing the game. Anyone else out there like playing War?

I usually play a hand as I'm walking by. If I win, I take the winnings and keep it out there till it looses. Taking the winnings each time. It's good fun.

Eh, there are worse games out there. And its probably fun with a fun table. It's funny it became a real game after "Vegas Vacation". And of course always go to war. I probably should do a fly-by just to say I played it.

I never played it, and no, I don't think you are throwing money away playing it. From what I gather from your post you and your wife are enjoying playing it by yourselves and with others. That's all that matters. Never mind if someone points out the high House Advantage (HA). If it's fun and entertaining that's all that matters.

In my opinion it's money well spent.

I can't get to WOV from work but if I remember correctly, the game is 50/50 UNTIL you "go to war". The casino then gets their house advantage at that point. I don't remember the percentage but WOV has it somewhere. So yes, you could do much worse and if you had a good time and broke even, then in my book, you're ahead.

Yeah, ties are the only time it's not 50/50. You can either "go to war" by betting again to win 1 to 2, or surrender half of your bet. Going to war is better because they consider a back-to-back tie as winning the war for the player.

Nothing wrong with enjoying the game with your wife! It's about a 2.8% vig depending on bonus rules (could be as good as 2.3%). So remember that even though you "break even or win a bit" you will lose eventually particularly as the game doesn't have a lot of variance. If you are good with that, then have a blast!

Play what you enjoy. Unless the game is 100% + we are all throwing our money away...

I enjoy war once in a while but not for long periods of time. Usually because the table is empty and the game is fast as well.

Yes the only reason why I play it is because of VV.

Casino War is the only game that I think I am lifetime up at. That's because I've only played about 4 times. It's house edge isn't horrible. If you enjoy it, play it.

I still recall fondly winning a few thousand at one of the casinos in Lake Charles...going to the cage and being asked "Blackjack or craps, sir?" when I handed the girl my blacks.
My reply was "No...it was that wheel game...you know...the Big-6 wheel".
Her response? A dirty look for about 3 seconds, followed with "Blackjack or craps?"
    Me: (meekly), "it was blackjack"

But to be fair - haven't we all played the Big-6 wheel and those Jumbo slot machines...at least once?

Definitely play the games you enjoy.

My only War experience was hammered at old O'Shea's playing $5 heads up against the dealer. I have no idea how many hands you can play in an hour heads up but I remember everything was lightning fast.

I took my son to Vegas for his 21st B-day and we played War at NYNY and he had a blast...lively table, a good run and a great introduction to the casino experience. A terrific memory!!!

Yeah, its not THAT big a rip off.

Truth be told, for 95+% of the people who play table games in Vegas, they'd be better off playing war. Because once they are done making carny bets, or play mistakes at BJ, or play mistakes at VP, or playing slots, they have probably faced a worse expected loss. War is slightly worse than 6:5 BJ with perfect basic strategy, it appears. And most 6:5 players do not play perfect basic strategy
