The CVS and Walgreens takeover of the Strip continues.

Indeed. Are drug stores the new dayclub or something? :confused2:

Do they still just have one craps table going?

Saw the post about that here in October and I am hoping management realized how stupid that decision was.

By the end of the decade, Vegas resorts will eliminate the last remnants of gambling. Walgreens and CVS will replace CET and MLife as the two main Strip operators. Casino floors will be replaced with shopping aisles. Visitors will be able to purchase endless amounts of sunscreen, cheap tee-shirts and lip balm, while gazing at replicas of the Sistine Chapel, taking a gondola through the Walgreens beer aisle, or enjoying the CVS Soda Fountains show with the musical accompaniment of fast food and bubble gum ads.

The Taco Bell Volcano will spew nacho cheese, Bally’s will be rebranded into The Sharper Image, and Pho will be transformed into the world’s largest Applebees. Excalibur will be nuked and replaced with a 120,000 room I-Phone store. Caesars will add the name Little to their marquee and add two daily pizza pizza deliveries included for all guest rooms as part of their $40 resort fee. City Center will be repackaged as one enormous Best Buy. Wynn Encore will be rebranded as Dolce & Gabbana. MGM will become Target, the Luxor will replace all amenities with an Egyptian themed CVS, and Mandalay Bay will become Rite Aid. Casino Royale will transform into one giant Denny’s. Harrahs, the Quad and Flamingo will be imploded and replaced by Bed, Bath and Beyond. O’Shea’s famous leprechaun will be promoting Irish Spring to all guests.

Tony Hsieh will purchase all remaining downtown casinos, which he will implod and replace with a Pabst Blue Ribbon Brewery, the world’s largest vinyl record store and the world's largest Whole Foods. CVS and Walgreens will bid the price of the world’s largest souvenir store to over $1 billion. The first $5 billion CVS will be built on the former Stardust site. Not to be outdone, Walgreens will also build a $5 billion flagship on the site of the old Sahara. CVS and Walgreens will control a combined 158,000 rooms on the Vegas Strip by the time Baby New Years rings in 2020. Circus Circus and Hooters will hold the last two gaming licenses in Nevada, and they will hope to stave off bankruptcy due to a lack of demand by Vegas visitors.

2020 Vegas Projected Revenue by Source
    Rooms 40%
    Retail 24%
    Food 17%
    Beverage / Clubs 15%
    Other 3%
    Gaming 1%

:kill: This is not the New Vegas I had envisioned, but I guess it works. :kill:

Sure justifies the $900 air flight for two. Oops I mean $1600+ for the year 2020. :evillaugh

But it does work. All the cheap beer and drinks on the strip are back! :nworthy:

I wonder if they will build the second story flush with the Venetian propertyline wall and just have a tunnel back to the parking lot.

I sure hope they take all the mirrors off the casino walls for this. I hate walking through there hammered, it takes me like twenty minutes to find that scary restroom there.

I had a night like that!!!! I was playing blackjack switch for about four hours and 100 jack & cokes. Dozens of trips up the mirrored staircase to the toilet. When I had to blink twice to make sure I didn't run into the guy coming up the stairs (which turned out to be me) I knew it was time to go back to the room.

But hopefully CR will improve the casino in the renovation. It amazes me that Dennys and Walgreens provide more revenue than slots and carny games.

Is CR still open? I have such a soft spot for that place (love me some BlackJack Switch and foot-long hotdogs).

Yes, it's still open. There's a section of slots that have been removed to make way for the expanding Denny's. The $1.99 dogs are still there as well. :evillaugh

    Yes

Yes it is. The Denny's is completely gone. Inside of CR is the same except for the entire north wall is just a huge black plastic wall. Loud when the jackhammers were going on, but that faze should be over with. Soon the hammering will start.

Is the Subway still in there? We usually eat there a few times during our visits :)

Me too. I'm blown away that their unique location between Venetian, Mirage, and Harrahs doesn't make their low rolling casino ridiculously profitable. Even when they had 3 craps tables it was always shoulder to shoulder.

I doubt they will get rid of those. Talked to one if the bar tenders or manager there is August who said those bring in over $500,000 profit per year!
