Been looking for a bit and not found an answer yet...

Going to book a room using mlife (not easy but not given up yet).
Had some trouble getting the reservation to stick so finaly ended up talking to
a Casino manager that said he could do a reservation for me at casino rate. Quoted a price that was in line with what would cost on mlife. In my case that would end up at 20% off the hotel rate (seems only got discount at the hotel I stayed last trip, in this case Bellagio). Turned it down when he said that there was no guarantee I would be getting the room type I wanted at check in.

So now back to going the mlife booking way... One question pops up in my mind. How do they view mlife/casino rate bookings when it comes to comps?

Last trip (and only so far) I got my express comps used against some food and the resort fee, on top of that I got a couple 100 pulled of the room rate (full price).

If paying 20% less the full price, is that going to be counted as I am "comped" that amount? Would be nice know what to expect even if it's not a complete dealbreaker.

probably not. since it's not a full comp, i doubt they will even consider that rate to be part of any sort of comp.

Probably worth giving it a shot then.. be interesting to see how they handle it.
With the changes to Mlife, large cut in express comps and no real idea how they will handle/view comps when my play gets evaluated at the end.

They mention they will "extend more compelling offers" if that is the shift/focus probably not too good for me as what I read on some forums is true, a gold/plat player located outside US don't get much offers (if any).

    Thanks Shifter

I would guess whatever room he offered was a basic room. What sort of rooy TYPE were they talking about, that made you cancel?

specifically asked for the type I tried to book at mlife, a penthouse suite (not lakeview) at same price.
Nice of him to try and help but wasn’t too keen gambling on what room I would end up in when checking in. Could lead to my better half frowning, she not happy, no gaming for me.

I honestly don't get whats up with MLlife vs. calling the VIP line. Two trips ago I had offers for Aria that were pretty good but the MLife site wouldn't let me use them and the tier rate I got on the site wasn't that great so I called and they comped me two nights and $79 for the third.

The last trip I checked MLife and the tier rate was not bad but was better than my offers. I called VIP and they quoted me a rate twice what the site showed so I booked through the site.

Just today I was trying to book a room for December at Aria and MLife had a decent offer but the tier rate was horrible. The site wouldn't let me book anything. I called VIP with the offer and the CSR threw that offer out and gave me a fantastic rate (no comps though).

For the previous two trips I was Gold for this one I'm Platinum but I don't think that matters in any of this.

Hm.. seems like hit and miss, guess fair amount of variables involved (or just a random generator :rolleyes2: )

On a good note for me, finally managed to book using the Mlife page, so got my room with confirmation so now I'll just wait and see how everything works out with the comps. I'll report back. (going April).
