I'm in Montreal right now bumming out in the hotel room. Both of us are feeling under the weather so plans for a nice dinner and partying are likely nixed. So I'm thinking we go to the casino.

I should have asked earlier but is this casino worth checking out? I went once when I was in college but don't remember anything except that the dealers spoke french which confused me. How are the BJ and VP conditions? I wasn't expecting to gamble here and only have a couple k on me so would be looking at the lower limit games. Any important regulations for an American to know? Also any suggestions on dining in the casino?

It's a bit odd for layout with the slots on the bottom 2 levels and table games on the third. It's quite busy at times and smaller than one would think. I noticed roulette, BJ, let it ride, 3 card poker and don't remember if there was craps or not.

Table games were middle of the road odds wise when I was there a few years back and roulette was double zero.

In Canada you have to pay for your drinks, and almost all casinos are non-smoking, on the bright side no taxes on winnings so if you hit a jackpot you get to keep it all.

    Parking is available on site

I'm 15 minutes from that casino, and I don't want to go. I never won anything in my life. Keep your money for Las Vegas.

I agree. Quebec casinos are notoriously tight. I remember reading (Casino Player magazine?) their slots had the lowest payouts in North America, although I do remember they had single-zero roulette. You will find some made-in-Quebec slots that you won't find anywhere else outside the province. And since it's government owned, you can also buy lottery tickets there. :D (Friday's Lotto Max jackpot is $50 million plus 50 $1 million bonus draws)

Thanks for the info. We didn't end up going last night and doubt we will before leaving. It's only a 10 min drive from our hotel but it doesn't sound too exciting.

    Casino de Montreal..... SUCKS!

The worst casino I have ever went to. The piggybacking allowed is the worst. It is government owned which explains a lot.
