I am confused, hence, the dumb question. Would the same rules apply if you set up a front money account prior to arrival?

Front money and a wire are the same thing. So yes the rules all apply.

if you leave cash/chips on deposit from trip to trip, you can take that money in cash/chips whenever you want.

the issue is if you wire money in, there are laws about converting that to cash.

you can't wire in 50k and then have them give you 50k cash and walk away.

the same way you can't put 50k cash on deposit and have them wire it home for you.

My experience wasn't CET but it was the same idea. On my last trip I was staying at and wired funds into the Mirage but wanted to play at Aria one night. I went to the cage at Aria, filled out a form, and about 10 minutes later I had available funds drawn from my front money at the Mirage. They apologized about the 10 minute wait and let me know in the future I can transfer money between the casinos with just a phone call and the wait was because this was the first time I setup transferring between the 2 properties.

    FYI:

you can also send money between sister properties to pay markers. generally you have to be at one of the properties do this though. you can't go home and then call them and have MGM send money over to Aria.

you can also pay markers with chips from another property. even an unrelated property. e.g. paying Wynn markers with MGM chips. they will just call the other property to verify the chips and clear your markers.

I never understood what they verify on that call. I have had them do that with $100 chips, is Cromwell really calling Wynn to verify that they issue $100 chips. I don't really care but I don't see the point.

The call is to verify several items:
    1) That you don't have open markers at the other property. If so they generally won't change the chips for you.
    2) That you are supposed to have the chips. This is to ensure you didn't steal them from another player or the casino.
    3) That you bought/won them yourself through gaming and you aren't trying to launder money.

This is an interesting thread. 15-20 years ago I had a similar situation. I had my dad wire me cash via Western Union to the hotel I was staying (Golden Nugget). From the time I called him, he went to his bank to get cash, went to a local western union place (I think it was a grocery store), wired me the money, got my cash in hand, was less than 2 hours.

    Thanks for the information, Shifter.

Question: If I set up a front money for $25,000 at the Wynn, and proceeded to win another $25,000, would the casino wire back the initial deposit and winnings back to my bank?

    Sorry for the hijack, OP.

One thing i was told was, i could take all my front money out and "play" with it, return to the cage to cash out and ask for a check instead of cash. Mind you this is if you have like 10K to cash out on i think

In the Bahamas they wired for me and only had a line of credit. If they don't do it in Vegas, you can always ask for a check but if you wired it in, should be no problem.

The replies to this problem has been very informative to me. I hope the OP will tell us all how it worked out and what she did.

Don't forget you don't have to take it all as cash. You can have them write you a check.

I'm not sure if this is true. Casino's don't give checks very easily for winnings.

This is true. I get checks all the time. Never had a problem (at least at MGM properties).
