I remember on my last trip downtown that some properties close their casino floors at a certain time of night. I couldn't remember if this is ongoing as I was in no way sober when stumbling back to the plaza! Anyone know when or if this happens down town ?

I think there was a recent thread that asked this very question, and, IIRC, nobody really knew of any casino that closed downtown aside from the small joints like La Bayou and Mermaids perhaps.

That said, Downtown Grand has recently started closing the table games at 2 am and apparently don't reopen them until either noon or 2pm.

Yep, they're the only ones that totally close up shop at midnight.

And, like hail2skins said, DTG tables are only open from noon-2am Fri-Sun, and 2pm-2am Mon-Thurs. At least I think that's the days.

Many of the casinos (even on the strip) sometimes close off parts of their casino in the early morning, usually to perform regular maintenance on the machines or collect $$ for the day. They sometimes close off a bank of machines for maintenance or upgrading. Many of them just put that yellow tape around the area that they are working on. So while the casino is open 24/7 not all areas may be open all the time. The closed off some of the tables at the D a few years ago to put on new felt and upgraded the tables.

The dt hotel casinos are usually open, it's the small joints without a hotel like bayou or mermaids that close at a certain time.
