Is it a law with the Nevada gaming board that you cant put down $10.00 or 15k in cash and play it? "Money plays" Or is it a casino policy?

I've put down $100 on a money plays bet as I'm headed out the door to the airport and never had a problem.

Casino rule because I have done MONEY plays at Gold Coast all the time and still can.

Pleepleus and I asked at Geezers and they thought it was a Nevada law but too many players said that Off strip casinos still allow money to play.

    See you in 10 days.

I was at PH last week. A guy tried to drop a $20 cash field bet. The dealer said no cash bets.

I try all the time to play "Money plays" just to bother the suites. They NEVER let me. At the craps table where they know me I put 6k cash in odds out and they practically have a heart attack. LOL...They also tell me it is a Nevada gaming thing. I think they are lying.

PP, Pleepleus, Nate and Stevie......T-10 Days and 13 Hours!! See you soon!

Been a few years since I've done it and it was ok to do but have not seen anyone do it recently. I'm not sure about now. Hope you guys have a great time and wish I could've been there!

I've had some of my best luck on Roulette cash play. Usually after i've coloured up and cashed in then see a streak of my numbers or something else that doesn't matter but makes me want to bet. Was hoping to be able to do this in Vegas next week.

No cash on craps bets because the player can "claim" that all he wanted was change - that it was NOT a bet.
I seen and done "money-plays" at multiple casinos over the years, at blackjack & roulette. Some casinos have policies against it. Many do not.

Think about it this way - every casino that uses legal coinage (quarters and/or half-dollars) at their blackjack table is, by default, allowng "money plays", since a player could hypothetically save up 10 half-dollars and make a $5 minimum bet.

Maybe it's up to the Crew.

Forgot where it was but I've seen a guy walk up and plop a Hundie in the Field without saying a word. The shooter already had the dice and the Stick calls loudly "Money plays in the Field" and rushed the action. The kid looked like a deer in head lights and just stood there. I don't think he knew what happened and the Crew wasn't about to help him out. Naturally, he wins Even Money and us players have to goad him to pick up his two black chips as he wasn't quite sure they were his. He made one or two more modest bets and walked away with a nice profit for being naive.

"Paper plays!" used to be very common, at least in Reno/Tahoe and through the mid-late 1990s. I have not seen it allowed at blackjack in a major strip casino in a very long time, at least 10-15 years. I don't think it has anything to do with Nevada gaming, I think the casinos have found that they will win more off of a player who has converted his cash to chips so they now force you to do that.

I think this is why it has mostly disappeared...

I know that the Fremont still allows it...& I think the Nugget does as well... (or, at least did allow it sometime during the last few years).

Years ago at Luxor I was playing BJ with one other guy. I was 1st base, he was 3rd and we were playing table mins. A guy walks up and places a $400 bet. Dealers asks him if he wants chips. He says no, play it. The next few hands went something like this.....

    Guy places $400, busts.
Pulls out another $400. Dealer asks 'chips?', player 'no.' Bust.
Pulls out another $400. Dealer asks 'chips?', player 'no.' Gets an 11, pulls out another $400 to double down. Loses.
Pulls out another $400. Dealer asks 'chips?', player 'no.' Bust.

Player then walked away at that point. Lost 2K in 4 hands.

I look at 3rd base, tell him I lost 5 bucks, he says he won 10.

Mgm casinos basically dont allow it anymore. I asked and they said basically irs and money laundering. Ymmv though. Since all the new banking rules and stuff, its just one less variable that they will need to deal with. Plus it does slow things down. Years ago I played with cash at nyny. Got to be annoying with constant counting and then dropping when I kept losing. Plus pit critter had to hang around constantly. I finally switched to chips and went through my entire loc too.
