Wondering is it a good idea to carry lots of cash when walking around or better to use debit /credit card for everything?

Wife going to carry small purse and me wallet (front pocket) but not sure if good idea leaving any valuables in room or car either?

Most rooms have safes now. I would just carry around your daily spending and leave the rest in the room. It will be safe in the safe. I wouldn't leave anything of value in the car though.

I've walked around with a thousand or two or more and never been uncomfortable. If I have a big win I just make my way back to the room to deposit it in the safe. My biggest worry is forgetting my purse in the washroom stall. Your wife would be wise to not carry a clutch type purse but one that she can loop across her neck and shoulder. If she's playing BJ or slots, she can drape it over her shoulder instead of having to put it down somewhere, same thing in the washroom.

    Everyone carries money so I don't think it's a concern unless you're in a "shady"area.

If you are worried about it maybe its not a great idea to tell the internet where you keep it.

Las Vegas is a place where no matter how much money you think you have, lots of people have way, way more.

I really would not worry about it too much.

I carry my main money is my wallet and the days spending cash in a money clip. That way even if one gets stolen or lost i still have a back up.

I don't worry, but always keep my cash in my front pocket and my wallet empty. If I have anything in my wallet, it is a few dollars that people "see" me pay for stuff out of, just in case.

I bring a small card holder and keep my real wallet ,cash and CC cards in room safe. In the walking around 'wallet' is an atm card,cash/titos,players card(s) and my expired DL to use for CET comp transactions..Only once did someone notice and that was at the Gold Coast when I needed a new players card...I would hate to lose my real DL on a trip and have to deal with the TSA w/no ID..

You can keep 10x that amount in your front pocket without worry.

Yeah I've carried 20k in my front pockets before and 50k in bricks in a bag without any problems. I'm sure whatever amount youre thinking of will be fine.

Vegas is no different than anywhere else - if people KNOW you have extra cash, you might be a target.

But, you have to ask this question: How does anyone know if you have $20 or $20,000 in cash on you?

Answer: They don't. So, carrying extra cash around is not extra dangerous or risky.

    Front pocket works fine.
If playing mostly at a particular casino open a line of credit and you can simply ask for as much as you are approved.

I'm not afraid to carry cash, but find a debit-card awfully damn convenient for small item purchases. Of course, on property I charge everything I can to the room.

Carrying cash would be fine. To save trouble I would just bring your daily spending allowance with you per day.

This question seems to come up quite a bit. I'm curious as to why some people are soooo paranoid about carrying cash?

I assume just because it is different than the norm. I know when I'm at home I carry less than $100 on me since everything I do is paid on a CC. But then in Vegas I'll have 20x+ that on me. I don't really care, but I also don't care that much about personal security as I've never felt unsafe in Vegas.

I put it in the same category as

Why are some people afraid to fly?
Why will some people cancel a trip due to the shooting at Ballys?

Money affects people. Some in worst ways than others.

I had a "pick pocket" following me
+ my wife while we were strolling down
    The Strip....casually - together.
It was at Carnival Court area... daytime.
    .
Guy had a winter coat drapped over his front
    forearm.
    I got a premonition ---( I was impressed w/ myself !:nworthy:)
pulled my wife to the side.
I turned to face this guy --- he immediately
turns and stops to look in that liquor store window.
Of course, he's looking at me in the glass reflection.
I let him pass + discussed it w/ my wife.
    .
Oh...the drapped winter coat ?.....it was 90 degrees !:nono:
    .
I crossed the Strip + watched the guy walk back up to the spot
where he picked us up.........next victim !:nono:

I also look at cash as a control measure. I keep my daily amount for gambling, food, whatever else on me and once that's gone, well, I have to deal with it. I've gotten good at preserving my cash until later in the day to make it through comfortably within my limits. If you have a CC or debit card that you use you may not go crazy, but you don't always realize just how many transactions you are making and what the total cost is.

I always make a copy of my DL, debit card, and Credit card(thats all that goes with me to vegas in a small wallet). I copy them all front and back now, and keep the copy in my luggage just in case something happens. That way I can show security at the airport if needed. Once I get home I just shred them.

During the day, I carry a wallet with 2-300 cash then in my front pocket is usually 5-600 in a fold. At night, I lock my wallet in the safe and only bring money in a fold and my DL. Also keep my credit cards in the safe at night.

Or why would some people cancel a trip to Bally's when the shooting had nothing to do with Bally's but did involve Flamingo Blvd and Las Vegas blvd, the busiest or one of the busiest in all of Las Vegas? LOL.

Yep...This does happen and im sure the odds are very slim but the truth is there is a big business in thief. If its not cash they will get your atm card and pin.

what I do is take $$$ out as needed at the atm, stick it in my wallet and put rubberbands around my wallet it so its harder to be removed.
