The resort fee at the MGM Grand now includes free use of the new "Cardio Room" on the 4th floor of tower 300. Has anybody used this room. I was told that it did have treadmills to use.

hmm, it doesn't include their actual gym? i don't know if the cardio room is supposed to be the same as the fitness center i went to. the fitness center is located via the spa (near the pool). if they are the same thing, i can tell you a few things. i used it in june 2010 when it was one of my freebies (before the dreaded resort fee). it has several treadmills, a few bikes, and some other stuff. i honestly can't remember. i tried the treadmill, but i just can't run on one. i apparently can only run outside. so i sat on the bike for a bit. i didn't use it again. it's not that it was bad in any way. it had free water and snacks, which was nice. the gym itself is minimal, but i think all hotel gyms probably are. oh, and it looks out onto the pool system, which is just cruel :nono: it wasn't too busy. i was there around 6:30am on a weekday. i think there were about 5 other people there.

i don't know if they just changed the name of the gym to cardio room, or if the cardio room is a new addition since i was there 2 years ago. sorry if i gave you useless info :ssst:

Thanks for the reply. No, it isn't the fitness center. I did find some info on the internet about it. This was on a link describing the construction details of the job. They converted 2 suites on the 4th floor of the 300 wing to what they call the Cardio room. My wife did ask a reservation clerk about it and all she said was that it had treadmills. She didn't know much else about it. It is fairly new and so far I haven't been able to read anything posted by someone who has used it.

My wife walks 3 miles a day and hopes to be able to walk on their treadmills. That would ease the pain of the $25 + tax resort fee. I only walk 1 mile a day a few days a week - but will get something out of the resort fee by accessing the internet on my netbook computer. Their resort fees rank right up there with the airlines baggage fees as total ripoffs.

ah ok, i didn't know they made a "mini gym". it's probably much easier/quicker to get to than the fitness center (at least that's my guess). and i couldn't imagine a "cardio" room without ample treadmills, so hopefully you both get one!

i loved loved loved staying at mgm in 2010, but i will probably never be back because i've boycotted hotels that charge the ridiculous resort fee. i guess i would go back if the room rate + resort fee was still less than rates i found at cet properties (so far, that has never happened). i know some people don't mind the resort fee because they need the amenities offered anyway. but i don't need any of the stuff included in the resort fee, so i definitely feel like i am being ripped off :grrr:

have a great trip and good luck with that new cardio room!

I am guessing its similar to the cardio room at Mirage, which had about 10 treadmills and 10 ellipticals/bikes. I am sure it will be sufficient for a cardio workout.

I have been to it. Yes they have a number of treadmills there with tv's to watch while using them. They have an attendant there as well. I think about 6 treads if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the info. I have used the regular fitness center a number of times, but it's annoying to have to pay for it's use on top of the resort fee. Nice to know there is another option (even if small). I liked the fact that MB has a fitness room that is included if you don't want, or need, the full gym.

Thanks for all the info. We'll be there for 8 days in May and do want to walk off some of the calories from all the great meals we always have there.
