This is a shot in the dark but, I am trying to remember where this restaurant was (which casino). I ate there in 2005 I think it was. We had to walkthrough a casino (entered from Fremont) and walk down a flight of stairs almost like going into a basement area. There was a long wait to be seated. They served steak specials and it wasn't a fancy restaurant. I could of swore it was in Binions but their restaurants on their website are nothing like I remember.

Anyone know where this could hace been?

    Thanks!

sounds like tony Roma's at the Fremont, or Hugo's cellar at the 4 queens.

Oh yeah that sounds like binions. I remember getting the prime rib there on my first 2 trips for like $7. Then on the 3rd trip it was closed. I wanna say they closed it about 3 or almost 4 years ago

Binion's Horseshoe was it. My first comped meal ever was in that place. Middle of the night and busy as could be. Miss it!

Yes, the Binion's coffeeshop has quite a history. It was always a hotbed of activity, and very popular with diners at all hours of the day & night, back in the 80's & 90's that I remember. In fact, there was also a small buffet upstairs, accessed by the escalator in the middle of the casino. Then, in the late 90's, some genius there decided to close the buffet, and they moved the coffeeshop up there (I almost got into a fight up there with some drunken loud-mouth). Customers complained, and they eventually moved the coffeeshop back downstairs, and all was well ... until Becky Binion took over, and everything went to hell. The coffeeshop got shut down again, and then eventually re-opened with a limited menu, but through all the change-overs with Harrah's and a couple new owners after that, it was on again, off again ... and closed down, much to the disappointment of many people who remembered it from its hey-day. Sad .....

Hugos is very "high end" for downtown so it probably wasnt there, must have been binions coffee shop, but I did not know it was still around downstairs in 05'.

After the Feds closed down Binion's (and Becky) in early January 2004, Harrah's signed its purchase deal in late January, 2004, and the casino & hotel re-opened around April 1, 2004. We stayed there one more time that year (long story) ... and the coffeeshop did eventually re-open downstairs.
