So as I was lamenting and whining to myself about my lack of luck and losses (although I did win the day of my bday as per last Trip Report) I got to thinking how often do anyo of you guys/girls cancel a pre-booked trip because you are taking it like Macker's mom at the Adult Video Awards?!?!?!?

Last Tuesday I cancelled free flight/hotel to Laughlin, two comped rooms at MGM and my car rental from Laughlin to Vegas of course. Instead of soaking up the sun and a Bud Light in the lazy river at MGM on Thursday, I was sitting in a staff meeting in Edmonton, Alberta. Edmonton would never be confused with Las Vegas.

Three losing trips in a row is tough especially when they are within three months.

Now, before I whine too much more....I still have a trip or two locked up right now. But four nights of drinking and gambling on a solo trip is not good for me. Hence my cancellation last week. I also did not want lose too much my first night alone in Laughlin and then low play MGM when I had help from a friend on the board connecting me with a host. Despite being Platinum at MGM for three years those f+ckers would not front me a free room anywhere!! Yes I know it was a busy weekend. I get it but Caesars was free for me so I just don't see how I couldn't even get NYNY!

Anyone have a sad story to tell on giving up a juicy freebie or something similar? And does anyone else think Beejay is soaking up the luck for our crew in a gluttonous way?????

Sounds like a mature decision. Damn you for setting a good example.

I've had maybe 2, possibly 3 trips total of 31 where I came out ahead, with only one of them being more than a double digit victory. That's why I try to find other things to do in Vegas anymore; hang out at the pool, put back some drinks on a $20 buy-in with video poker at the bar, poker with some friends, or just lounge in the room and pre-game longer than in the past.

Gambling is just entertainment to me, but yeah, the constant ass kicking gets old. Not enough to cancel a trip... but maybe postpone another for a few months more.

Have yet to cancel but probably due to only being able to take 2 trips a year.
Even after our worst trip, we were looking forward to going again after a couple of months.
I think having trips spaced out really helps to recover both financially and mentally.

I could not agree more! I am 0 out of 40 for winning trips, and still keep coming back! I have to come with various activities to keep me from gambling - since it always sucks me dry. Sometimes spas or even a movie and/or show has occurred near the end of the trip.

You have to look at it as entertainment. I can almost guarantee that over 90% of the members of this board would not continue to gamble if they have my bad streak of luck (or maybe gamble more - degenerate gamblers !!!!), and the idea of having a 'break even' trip is actually quite amusing to me.

So we take our 'free' rooms and food and shows, and keep coming back to our favorite place on Earth. Now, if I only stuck to poker.................

To answer your question, though, No --> I have never cancelled an upcoming trip because of bad luck. Now, excuse me, I'm looking for cheap flights out of Kalispell this fall.

I cancelled my 40th birthday trip because I had such a shitty run in A.C a few months prior....Just couldn't deal with another losing trip. In 2013 I got crushed in Biloxi - then 4 months later drawn and quartered in A.C. I really didn't want to spend a milestone birthday with negative mojo about bad gambling trips carousing through my cranium. I knew I wouldn't be right mentally so I cancelled the tix, limos, and rooms and stayed home. I know what it's like getting pounded on consecutive trips - makes you a little game shy. But, I'm sure a Royal or 2 will get you right back in the mindset.

Cancelled my last oct trip because I sold my business and was in the process of opening 2 more. Rescheduled my tix for Super Bowl weekend but it cost me. I was technically out of work for a bit with a new house so I didn't want to "gamble" any more.

I've had winning trips, and have bailed out of two because we just had crappy luck the first two days. But only when I've driving. Never had such bad luck that it was worth it to reschedule a flight. When that happens we casino hop and low roll hoping for a miracle....

I planned on going out for March Madness after going for the SB but canceled it because I was still steamed that I got my ass kicked during the SB trip.

I'm in the 0'fer club as well, 0-20 to be exact....but it's simply too much of a commitment to back out when you are planning from the east coast!

So as per your subject, NOPE, I take it In the wallet and LOVE IT!

3 week trip starting later today, I'm hoping that I will end my 0'fer streak!!!

I haven't cancelled any trips and haven't exactly gotten "pounded," but because the past few trips have been anything but winners, my usual enthusiasm for rushing back has evaporated. It's been two and a half weeks since returning home, and I'd normally be planning something for July or August. That's still possible, but right now I'm content to wait until late October. Nothing exceeds like excess!

4-6 trips per year and no, never. And the obvious, I've lost on more trips than I've had winning trips.
