Need some advice on the best location for a room at the Cal.

My wife got a 3-night offer from the Cal, which we are going to use in September ... but we have never stayed there. I think there is an East Tower and a West Tower ... and we would like a downtown view, without looking at the railroad tracks, or the side of the other tower.

Assuming that we will stay in a King / Non-smoking room, should we request a high up room on the southeast section of the East Tower ? Would that give us a decent view ? Or, are there other considerations ?

    Thanks !!!

Actually I would rather stay in the northeast section of the east tower. There are 2 rooms right by the elevators but they are facing south (may have rooms facing north but I forget). The south rooms you can see downtown and the FSE between the binions and lvc buildings.

For the other rooms in the east tower, just make sure that if you are in the east towers you ask for a room facing east. If you face west then you are facing the west tower and can hear the air conditioner fans at night that is between the buildings. No view at all.

I don't think a high floor will make a difference, the east tower view will be the same, you can see binions, the parking lot across the street and binion's parking lot along with seeing north lv.

this virtual map might help you determine rooms. as you can see, the east tower on the right has 2 rooms that fast south.

btw, the east towers, although refurbished are older than the west towers and so not as big or comfortable (IMHO) as the west tower rooms. The west tower bathrooms are larger IMHO.

I usually like to stay in the west tower facing west so I can see mountains and hear the trains and see the plaza and MSS. Guess I don't think the east tower view is anything special IMHO since binions blocks your view of the FSE except for the canopy.

Thanks ... that virtual picture really shows how the towers are aligned.
I think we'll try to request a south-facing room in that northeast corner of the East Tower. But, in any event, we'll be on that east side, where there will at least be some lights to see at night. Thanks for your info !!
