    Hi there!

I'm new to this forum so please go easy on me :))

I'm in Vegas the first week of Jan and have decided to try out The Cal for the first time after visiting many times (this is my 31st trip since 1998).

I know they are in the process of remodeling the casino, and will start on the rooms next, but as of today is one tower better than the other or are they both much the same?

    Many thanks for your help.

    Matt.

The west tower rooms are nicer IMO.

The west tower is "newer" than the east tower. The bathrooms are much bigger and fully enclosed (meaning that the bathroom contains the shower, toilet and vanity inside). In the east tower there is a "bathroom" which contains the shower and toilet but the vanity area is outside of that "bathroom". This can get irritating if your roommate wants to use the hair dryer or sink, if you are in the bed you can hear it all. Not as loud in the west tower because you can shut the door to (lessen) the noise.

I like to stay in the west tower, facing west because I like to look out at the mountains and city.

BTW, there are some rooms in the east tower that are near the elevator that are a little larger than the other rooms.

I will be staying at the Cal next week when I go to the CES convention so will probably see you there (even though I don't know you or how you look, lol). :peace:

Ha ha yes you will, I'm there for 3 nights starting on 5th. I'll be the English bloke with a shaved head playing the $1 Wheel of Fortune lololol

Pity CES is not open to the public as I'm well into my home cinema stuff and have always fancied attending. Enjoy!

I know that it is too late now but if you had a business card in some technical industry you could probably have attended. I have a "business" so I created my own business cards but I don't really do any business. The signup date has long passed so you would have to pay to attend the CES (it was free if you signed many months ago - like in August) but I'm not sure how that works with late comers.

Small world, I will be there from the 5th to the 10. I usually play craps so mostly play at MSS. I'll check out the $1 WOF machines when I'm at the Cal but I usually play the .25c WOF and the $1 megabucks. I still want to win the megabucks so I can retire (right now, lol) comfortably.

btw, when I check in I usually ask for a high floor, west tower, facing west, near elevator. The high floor is because of the view, plus the traffic noise isn't as noticeable. Near elevator because there are around 48 rooms per floor in the west tower so it can seem like a long walk from the elevators if you are at the end of the hallway. Hope the gambling gods are good to you.

The top floor rooms of the west tower. Those rooms have high ceilings, separate water closet, separate jet tub and walk in shower with two vanities: one single and one double. It has a 50" (maybe 60...it's big) T.V with bigger than normal fridge. It has a sitting area with coffee table, large couch, and king size bed.

The room is roughly the size of 2 regular rooms. It's really nice. It's above and beyond what you'd typically expect for Downtown rooms.

I don't know what the room rate is for these rooms but I would think a pretty penny. They stuck me in these rooms twice when I visited on solo trips. Don't ask me why, I'm still scratching my head but hell, I'll take it. I'm just a lowly Sapphire as far as card tier.

Does anyone here have an idea when the room renovations will be complete?

Hard to say, they first have to finish the renovations to the first and second floors.
