I have reserved a room at the California Hotel for 5 nights. I am not yet a B Connected member. If I go to the Players Club and get a card to present before check-in, will I get reward credit for those nights?

If not - there is a B Connected property two hours from me. Is it worth it to cancel my reservation, drive to get the card, and make the reservation again with the info?

    Thanks!

Probably best to sign up for your bconnected card and then sign in to their web site to see if you will get room discounts. They do offer discounted rooms but not sure about you since the rates also depend on how busy it will be when you visit vegas. If prices are lower you can book and then cancel your other reservations.

I doubt you will get any credit on a reservation if you sign up when you get there, usually people sign up for the card before they go on their trip and then hope they get email offers. The other way is to put in enough play with your card so you get your rooms comped or discounted but no guarantee.

I think you are asking if you get points for spending money at the hotel. If that is the case, you don't so it won't matter when you sign up for the card. I know some programs offer points for hotel purchases but this isn't one of them. You get points for gambling. That said, once you start gambling, the comps are much easier than the strip properties although the amenities aren't the same.

That was my question. Thanks for the info! This will only be my third Vegas trip so I'm still learning the ins-and-outs. The casino near my home rewards points for money spent at the hotels, restaurants, and even the gas station out front (seriously).

Having a player's card without a playing history won't do any good when checking in. However, after using the card, there's nothing to lose by asking for a room comp (or even a partial rebate) on the back end.

Mwig: It looks like we'll both be at MSS the same time!

Maybe we could arrange a VP mini meet. I will be mostly early morning hours because this trip is going to be very heavily weighted toward poker at the Golden Nugget Grand series. I think Ty is at Sam's if he wants to hit downtown for a day.

I have next Friday booked at MSS. I plan to take the shuttle from Sam's Town to MSS Friday afternoon, then head back to Sam's Town sometime Saturday morning. I can meet Friday PM or Saturday AM.

mk, Welcome to VMB! When will you be at The Cal?

Ty and Mwig: It doesn't sound very glamorous, but I'm much more a morning person than a night owl and will start Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Boars Head bar before moving to the BJ tables. Not sure about Friday afternoon and evening, but I'll likely be at MSS or Cal. Maybe I'll find my wristband, but my pic is pretty accurate. Hope to meet you guys!

We are checking into MSS on Friday. Evening will depend on tournament results but I will definitely be hammering away Fri-Sun mornings. My offer includes 5x points so need to get my normal action in just a few hours.

Thanks! I'll be at The Cal November 14-18th. I have a "mini trip" booked before then (one night only - just to see a show) in August, but I'll be on the strip then. Never stayed downtown. Looking forward to it!

I'm not sure if this helps anyone or not, but there is a coupon in the ACG for new Bconnected members that sign up at the California. Play $25 through and get $10 FSP. Better than nothing!

I have 2 of these and most of the other new member coupons from the ACG (The D, Golden Gate, etc). If interested, see my listings in the "Coupon Swap" section. I hate to see good coupons go to waste, so I am happy to share any new member coupons if someone is willing to send me a SASE.

    Cheers,
    Kelly

Last year, for that time in November, Boyds had a BOGO on rooms for 3 day sale. If you catch it, see if rates are lower. Probably around October it came out

I took some digging, but I finally found it! I have yet to spot anyone or be spotted with the green band, but it should be easy Saturday morning. Leaving for the airport in a few hours.
