Is this a new promotion or something they've done before?

The package is a three night stay at either property with an "exquisite holiday dinner" on Friday night where they'll give away thousands in cash. It's in the banquet room on the 2nd floor, so I'm gonna guess there will be around 200-400 folks there.

If this isn't the first of these packages, has anyone been before? Approximately how much cash is given away?

Thanks in advance for any information.

We went to a Thanksgiving promo last year at the Cal. It was similar offer to this. The dinner was fine, I dont know about Exquisite, but it was part of the package and free. As far as the cash give away, I dont remember how much was given away. You get some raffle tickets when you first go in and then after the dinner they call numbers. A couple of the upper management were the ones calling numbers, which I thought was pretty nice. You end up sitting at round tables with others that you may or may not know. Our table, everyone won something except for us. It was still fun! Give it a try. 3 comped nights and a chance at some cash, not restricted to slot play!

IMO, the best one to attend, if you're lucky enough to get an invite, is the NYE one at MSS. They decorate the buffet very nicely. The servers are all managers from all three properties and the prizes are very good and so is the food. We've been to two of them, but I guess I've been dropped from the list. I haven't received an invitation in years.

We've also been to two of them in the Ohana Room and they are as described by Bluesdude.. Well worth your time.

My Brother -in-law got an invitation to the one on NYE. I'm sort of jealous because he plays slots exclusively whereas I play craps mostly. But when we discuss the amount we spend gambling it looks like I spend (lose) more than him. These are times when I wonder if they rated me correctly at the tables.

Anyway he's excited because he heard this is a good invite, and there are cash prizes to be won. If he goes with his wife my wife and I might consider joining them. I have been jonesing for Vegas badly and my wife wants to go too. They aren't my first choice as Vegas partners as we've had some bad trips going with them but my wife loves to go with her sister (his wife).

I love going to Vegas with my wife so I'm willing to go if it makes my wife happy.

Edit: I also want to add that he (my brother-in-law) also was invited and went to the other promotion described by bluesdude this past September. Damn, he's not much more of a gambler than me but he gets all these great invites!!

Perhaps this is only a facade. He wants to give that impression so not to have trouble with his wife. It seems the sisters are very close, and conversations in your house may end up being repeated in his house. Regardless, it doesn't sound like it spoils your trip.

Interesting, I just got the mailout for this stash of cash getaway but for me it was for a comp 4 night stay (Dec 17 - 20) with the dinner in Friday. I guess I was rated very well for my trip in Sept to start to get comps again (I had a monster roll at MSS in Sept so I guess the pit boss game me a good rating since they probably made over $500 in tips just on this roll).

I've never attended these things so not sure how much they gave away but I heard that many people got something for attending.

Unfortunately table players don't get rated as well as slot players. One reason I think it's because there isn't as much overhead with slot machines whereas there is a lot of overhead on the tables (they have to pay for so many people on the tables, dealers, pit boss, etc.). I also play craps mostly and normally don't get squat for it, usually at most a comp buffet.

Thank you to everyone for the comments. My brother and I booked our trip for this event. I will definitely keep the NYE event in mind in case I'm ever fortunate enough to get an invitation. The Cal/MSS management do a good job showing their appreciation to their players and some to the point of treating them like family.

I attended a VP tourney in August and the banquet was just like every family reunion I've ever been to. Everyone was eating (really slowly) and visiting, while I was sitting by myself waiting for everyone to finish so I could go watch the NASCAR race.
