My husband has a bad back that is always causing trouble. At home he usually puts an ice pack on it at night. Just wondering if the mini fridges you can request for your room have a freezer in them? It would be nice if I could bring one of our ice packs along for him.

    Thanks!

I get one every time, and they always have a freezer. If you're familiar with the size of those fridges, you know how small the freezers are, however, I can say that anything stored under the freezer will probably freeze as well.

You just want to make sure that the freezer has the full space available with no frost in it; that's never been a problem for me at Caesars; they've always been very accommodative. Ask for the fridge at check in, once you're in your room, it's never taken more than 20 mins for me to get a fridge.

Great, thank you Chuck2009x! Good points. Think this would count as a medical need for the fridge?

Why don't you just get an ice bag or a plastic bag and get ice from ice machine?

I think it would count as a medical need, yes.

The last several times I checked into Caesars and asked for a fridge, I do it at the end, and sometimes they ask if I need it for medical purposes and sometimes they don't.

When they have not asked, 1/2 the time, I get it for free anyway.

The other times, when they asked, I've always said it's for personal use and I don't mind paying, and in those cases 1/2 the time I got it for free.

I've had the charge vary, but it's $15 - $25, so I would definitely claim the medical exemption. Just say what you said here.

If for some reason they won't give it to you for free, do what I used to do - fill the wastebasket with ice and use it instead.

Tip the guy who delivers it $2 - $5.

    Thanks again, Chuck!

Sonyhog, I would go with a bag of ice cubes as a very last resort as he usually needs to lie on the ice pack...and I think the lumpy cubes might cause more damage!

The fridges at CP are probably 18" in diameter, maybe 2 feet. The freezer space is just a little section at the top. It has worked for my husband who also has back problems and has a waist belt he has to put a gel pack in. The gel packs fit in the freezer portion just fine and keep them VERY cold. And yes, it is a medical reason, so just tell them at check-in that you need a refrigerator for medical reasons and you won't be charged.

Using ice is far too messy and more damaging to the skin when needed for long periods of time for back problems. The gel packs can still damage the skin, but they're not messy and they don't cause the damage as quickly.

We always tip the delivery person $5.
