    My Trip Report

First time back to Vegas since 2008-2009. Announced the trip back in July 2013 - targeted this particular weekend as Thursday May 22 was my 40th birthday. Gave all my friends 10 months notice about the trip - plan was to get as many couples that were interested in going to Vegas to join us... As expected everyone "Yes'd" me to death for the first 6-7 months after the initial announcement and then, suddenly, everyone couldn't make it due to other plans or babysitting arrangements - as I expected to be the case from the very beginning...

When all was said and done the following joined me to celebrate my 40th bday:

    Myself
    My Wife
My Father-in-law (my wife and I have been promising to take him back to Vegas - after we first introduced him to Vegas - for the past 4 1/2 years)
My Sister-in-law (SP) and her boyfriend (PK)
A good friend of mine (MC) from work and his girlfriend (C)

My wife and I stayed at Caesars (Octavious Tower) - 4 nights comped
My father-in-law stayed at Caesars (Palace Tower) - $99 night for each of the 4 nights
MC & C stayed in Harrahs Carnaval tower - 4 nights comped (combined both TR accounts to qualify for comp)
SP & PK stayed at Westin - $199 night for each of the 4 nights

    Wednesday May 21

Flew out of NY (JFK) - Delta. Flight booked in March for me, my wife, my fil ($405 each - round trip).
SP & PK booked 3 weeks after we did ($450 each - round trip)
MC & C booked in late April as they were not sure they could make it until that time - they used skymiles and payed just a few dollars for American Airlines

Out of curiosity, I checked airfare for the weeks leading up to the date... airfare was right around $825 pp roundtrip. When I checked 2 days before - jumped up to $1049 pp roundtrip and remained that way...

All except for MC & C were on 8:30PM flight Wed May 21st - scheduled to land in Vegas around 11:30PM local time. Checked the night before - flight changed to 9:30PM... Apparently this was changed in late March - we never received any notification from Delta though they claim an e-mail was sent to us informing us of the change. Get to airport - flight is "On-Time" scheduled for 9:30PM. I'm walking to the gate and happen to hear a convo between flight attendant at desk and Pilot - flight attendant said plane was coming from Mexico and scheduled to arrive at 10:05PM then needed to clear customs, etc. Pilot said "so, half hour from now plus another 35 mins before we can even start boarding"... It was 8:25PM at the time. No one other than myself was around nor heard this. Board still showed "On-time". I told the wife what I heard and suggested we grab some dinner. Headed over to Shake-shack to grab some food. got back to gate - update: flight delayed until 10:05PM. Long story short - we boarded around 10:40PM and were in the air around 11:05PM or so...

Smooth flight - arrived in Vegas around 1:10AM or so - thereabouts...
Note: my FIL lives in Atlantic City (affordable housing for seniors - across the street from Showboat Casino)... As soon as we get out of the plane there are slot machines in front of us. My FIL walks over to a machine and prints out a ticket for $.16 (he did not put any $ in the machine... he does this in AC regulary - walks around and finds machines where no one is sitting but has credits left behind). Get our bags from baggage claim - my wife, FIL, and I take a cab to Caesars; SP & PK take a cab to Westin...

We get to Caesars and check-in. I get our room in Octavious Tower, get my FIL's room in Palace tower... my FIL asks "u guys coming back down? in about an hour or so?" I said "1 hour?!!!! I'll be back down in about 10-15 minutes!!! All depends on how long it takes me to get to the room, drop off the bags, close the door, and head back down to the casino!" He starts cracking up - says ok and he heads to his room... We meet up on casino floor and decide - let's go check out Harrahs. Note: I, personally, am not a big fan of Caesars - have never stayed there before, last 4-5 trips before this one we stayed at Rio and have stayed at Harrahs several times before that. I prefer Harrahs due to locations and I get a much better room than standard anytime I stay at Harrahs.. My wife enjoys going to the pool - I do not. My FIL LOVES Caesars and wanted to stay there since we never stayed there before - so I said ok, let's do it. That's how/why we wound up there.... We leave Caesars and start walking to Harrahs - it's around 2:30AM or so. FIL walks over to a slot machine and finds $1 in slot machine - cashes it out. "Welcome to Las Vegas! You are up $1.16 without spending a penny playing!" I tell him. We walk out and start crossing the street (intersection by the entrance to the Quad where the shops are for the Linq). There are no cars on the street and the light starts flashing "don't walk". My wife tells my FIL to hurry up as the light is changing - he falls right in the street. We struggle, but finally pick him up and get him to his feet, bring him back to the sidewalk. He has a very sizeable and nasty scrape on his arm - bleeding. We wipe it down with napkins he happened to have in his pocket - it stings. He tells us he's fine, not to worry, but we know he's not ok. We suggest going back into Caesars and clean him up a bit, get band aid, etc - he refuses. So we start walking towards Harrahs. We see he is in pain and I insisted we get to a pharmacy to get peroxide and band aids. We head to Walgreens just past Venetian. It's around 2AM or so... not very many ppl in the street, but few homeless ppl around Venetial with signs that read "need money for weed", "need moeny for whores", etc... Get to Walgreens and get peroxide and band-aids. We clean his arm up and cover it up. Head over to Harrahs. FIL is tired so he heads back to Caesars for the night. Wife and I play Let It Ride with the $1 Million Guarantee for 6 card Royal Bonus. I am not familiar with this bet, but decide to try it out. I hit that particular bonus/bet 4 out of the first 7-8 hands or so - nothing major, 3 of a kind once, straight twice, flush once. Wife and I order Kettle One with a splash of Tonic - we have about 3 drinks and we are feeling pretty damn good! We walk away just about even between the both of us and go back to Caesars. Play Let It Ride there and order a few more drinks (Kettle One with a splash of Tonic). Get our drinks - lost $200 between both of us. Head to room to sleep at approx 6:15AM.

    Thursday May 22

Woke up at 8AM as plan is for me to play 9AM $70 buy-in poker tourney at Caesars - IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! I AM 40 NOW!!!! I grab a cup of complimentary coffee from Laurel Collection (near lobby) and head off to poker room. I register for the tourney at 8:30AM and walk out to play slots until 9AM or so. I lose $50 in slots - and head to poker room as it's 9AM now. I am in poker room with dealer and 1 other player. I look around (sarcastically) and ask if there is a tourney. Dealer tells me there is a tourney but people usually sign up late. So I sit in my seat and so does the other person in the room with me. The dealer, poker room mgr, and cashier all having a conversation with us and we are told poker room is closing at 6PM that night. I found that weird and asked why the poker room closes at 6PM. Also asked if that's the case daily and dealer said "no, poker room is closing at 6PM for good. Pure (nightclub) is taking over this space. We are opening a new poker room but will be across from here - the white walled area you may have seen outiside". I said "oh, so that opens tomorrow?" I was told - no in a few weeks because it needs to be built out first. The plan was to have that setup by the time we close this one, but Pure nightclub wanted this space sooner than later as it will take them a while to do what they have to do. I said "wow! the casino is willing to lose money from poker room for a few weeks???" She said "well, WSOP starts up next week. And the majority of people will be there anyway - most will not be in other CET poker rooms so we probably won't lose too much as a result". As we're discussing another registered tourney player walks in and sees no action. He goes to the window and asks for a refund. I wait until about 9:15 and then ask for a refund as well. I say thank you to the staff for the conversation and start walking out. Dealer mentions there are tourneys in other CET properties and refers me to a card near the front window that has the schedule of tourneys. I decide to head to Flamingo to play in $50 tourney scheduled for 10AM. I get there around 9:30AM and ask how many people are registered - "4 people so far sir". I said "ok, I'll be back around 10AM". She suggests I register before walking away and I decline. I head over to Starbucks (shops near Linq has a starbucks) to grab coffee. Go back to flamingo about 9:55 and ask how many ppl are registered - "we have 5 people registered at this time sir, but people do tend to come late". I'm disappointed and head off to play slots since tourneys not working out as I thought they might have... I lose $200 in slots. I get a text from MC stating they landed, grabbing their bags and going to Harrahs to check in. Note: C has never been to Vegas before - this is her first trip there. I go to Mirage and figure I would meet up with them at Harrahs in a bit. Wife is at Caesars pool during this time. Play Let It Ride in Mirage and walk away up $200. I cash out and text MC for their whereabouts. "Dropped bags off at bell desk; room not ready yet. At McDs for quick breadfast". I walk across the street to McDs and meet them. They are eating breakfast and I catch them up on my trip evens so far. They finish eating and MC mentions he forgot to take out $. I, immediately, suggest ANY/ALL withdrawals be made from Casino Royale as it's a $1 ATM fee - all other places charge $5-$6 minimum. We go to Casino Royale and, while waiting for them to withdraw $, I drop $100 in Megabucks. We leave Casino Royale and I inform them there is a CVS just past Venetian if they need to go there for anything at all. They decide to go there as they have to pick up a few things - I walk them there and I go to Palazzo as I have not been there - last time I was in Vegas Palazzo was under construction... I am not impressed - AT ALL! Drop $100 on Willy Wonka penny machine - what a waste! Now I hate this place even more!!!!

Lose and head back to Caesars. Meet up with the wife in the room - it's somewhere around 5PM or so now. Plan was to just hang out and do nothing but drink and gamble all day - it's my birthday and I should get to choose what I wanna do - lol. Wife suggests we go downtown Thursday instead of Saturday (as I, initially, suggested). Sounds like a great idea to me! Let's do it! She calls her dad - he's in. I text MC - they are in. Wife texts her sis - "why do you guys wanna go downtown? It's boring; nothing to do there. Old and dirty casinos, it stinks down there! Why waste money on cab to go downtown?!" Note: My sis-in-law knows EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING and is ALWAYS right about EVERYTHING!!!! I told my wife to tell her to stay in her room and do whatever she wants to do - I don't care!!!! I text MC and let him know I'm cracking open the bottle of Johnny Walker Blue my wife picked up for me back in NY - what time u coming? He said "be there in 15 mins". 1 hour and 15 mins later... knock on the door - it's MC & C. Wife and C don't drink Johnny Walker blue - BONUS!!! More for me!!! We take whatever is left of the Blue and pour it in our Red (to go) cups, meet her dad in lobby and head to taxi - with our to go cups. No issue with cups in cab or anywhere else for that matter... we head downtown. C is enjoying herself - first time in Vegas, we check out binions, go into golden nugget - FIL finds $2 in a machine and cashes out. C is cracking up dying laughing - she is witnessing him finding a few cents here and there and is amazed at how he is able to spot these machines from a distance. We're walking and go into another small casino that only has a few rows of slots - they have a raffle every 30 mins and gave us raffle tickets... MC & C start playing and are surprised to find the machines pay in actual coins rather than tickets. Between the 2 of them they walk away up $80 or so. Our drinks are finished and we need more Alcohol! Note: I am feeling VERY GOOD after the Johnny Blue on my 40th birthday and was told I was joyful and expressed quite a few ideas thoughts throughout the night - I just don't remember certain things. So I can only report on things I remember - lol. My phone rings - it's my sis-in-law. She asks where we are - I tell her we are downtown. She asks if her dad is with us - I said yes. She said - ok, we're coming down there. They meet us downtown. We're walking around and I mention I've never been to the Plaza - I wanna walk in JUST to say I've been there, at least once in my life... we walk in, C uses the bathroom and no one wanted to stay in there - so we leave. We go back to ABC store and decide - let's get a bottle of vodka with some mixers instead of buying drinks. We do just that! Now everyone is hungry... Note: I am on 1 1/2 hours of sleep the night before - I did not take a nap throughout the day. But it's my 40th birthday - I will catch up on sleep at some point - who cares?!!! Everyone is hungry - I mention I read about a place downtown called Pizza Rock which is supposed to be pretty good. We walk in with our Red cups and are told we can't go in until we finish our drinks. Ok - sure... so we hang out in the front and start talking to the pizzaman. What do you recommend, suggest, bla bla bla - I don't remember much from that - lol. We sit down (3 people still had red cups, but that was, mysteriously, no longer a problem at this point -- weird!). So we have pizza - everyone likes it - no complaints. Wife pays the bill. Suggestion is to go back to strip. I lost track of time - don't recall the time at this point... we head back to strip and go to Caesars for FIL to go back to room. SP & PK go back to Westin. MC, C, Wife and I walk past Bellagio and into Cosmo. I wanted to check out Chandalier lounge as I read about it and never been to Cosmo - let's go check it out. I was not impressed, but casino was ok - nothing crazy or too impressive for me. Wife has a migraine - we walk into little shop in Cosmo because wife left Aleve in the room at Caesars. MC & C wait outside the store. Wife asks for price of 1 Aleve - $5.39 - she, IMMEDIATELY, places it back and we both walk out. MC & C nowhere around - maybe they didn't know we went to store and started walking ahead of us. Wife and I walk out and start heading back. WTF? Where are they? I call MC - they were playing at a slot machine and won about $40. We meet up and walk back to Caesars - they go to Harrahs. Done for the night - it's 3:45AM.

    Friday May 23

Set alarm for 8:45AM - wake up, shower, so I can play in tourney I didn't get to play on Thursday. It's Friday - definitely more people in town, shouldn't be a problem getting a tourney going... get to Flamingo around 9:50AM, ask how many ppl are registered - "we have 6 ppl registered so far". Tourney is just NOT happening for me this trip!!! I give up. Let me go check out Cromwell. I go check out Cromwell - very nice! I play new Michael Jackson slots - drop $240 on 1 machine - WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!!! Wife is at the pool and insisting I go there to take a break from gambling bla bla bla. She KNOWS as I've made it clear a trillion times there is a 0% chance I am going to the pool while in Vegas. She continues texting me "everyone is coming, everyone gonna be here, take a break from gambling, bla bla bla". NO SHOT!!!! Around 12:30PM I grab lunch from Johnny Rockets in Flamingo. MC texts me around 1PM asking what I'm doing and if I want company. Sure - meet u at Harrahs since I gotta go to Casino Royale to get some funds. We meet up and walk indoors from Harrahs, through, Quad, through Margharitaville, through Flamingo to Cromwell. We sit down at $.25 wheel of Fortune - I put in $20 - no good. I put in another $20 - no good. MC still playing with initial $20. I leave and let him know I will be at Willy Wonka machines towards front of casino. I am at Willy Wonka for 30 mins or so, MC comes by - said he lost $20 in WOF. So he sits down and tries Willy Wonka - puts in $20, after 3rd spin hits a bonus for $140 and cashes out. I play for 30 mins and am down $80. Bunch of BS!!!! He goes back to play WOF. I stay at Willy Wonka for a good 2 1/2 hours or so - lose $200 on the machine. STUPID GAME!!!

We finally leave. MC wants to go to Cosmo since he won $40 the night before. I'm not a fan of Cosmo but agree to go. MC plays WOF I play $.05 top dollar machine. I break even after about 40 mins on that machine. I decide to play penny slots now. MC sits down next to me and plays penny slots as well. He hits a bonus on Spartacus machine - Bonus pays $400 on 150 credit bet. He cashes out. It's around 5:45 and we have to leave because we have tickets for the whole group to go see Absinthe. We leave - I lost $10 in Cosmo; MC up $380. Head back to Caesars - I drop $900 in a little more than 1 hour on $5 slots. Head over to box office to pick up tickets for Absinthe - in meantime wife meets up with MC & C who picked up a bottle of Kettle one. They go back to room and fix drinks. I call FIL and remind him about show at 8PM, SP & PK meet me by box office and purchase drinks outside of tent where Absinthe is playing. We all meet up and get ready to go in. MC not so sure we'll be allowed in with our red cups. I volunteer to go in first to see if I'm told anything - I get in with no problem. They see this and 3 additional people with red cups decide to go in along with the rest of the group. Wife and I have seen 'O' with FIL and we've also seen Mystere. We enjoyed both shows and I decided to give Absinthe a shot. I was disappointed when I walked in - it's a rather small stage in a tent and there are folding wooden chairs laid out. Wife and I are discussing amongst ourselves "this is what we paid $120 a ticket for"??? SP was very skeptical when I mentioned back in mid-April that I would like to get us all tickets to see Absinthe. She said "count me out. I'm not interested in seeing any stupid shows. I am going to see Le Reve and I'm taking my father with me!" PK, I guess, convinced her otherwise and pointed out to her it is my birthday weekend and, ideally, she should be open to see a show or go to dinner wherever I choose to go since it's my bday. She gave in and decided to go. EVERYONE in our party LOVED the show - my wife and I included. Money well spent! FIL said "Very nice show but too much X" (as in X-rated). It wasn't X-rated, but it is a bit on the raunchy side - but in a good, funny way! DEFLY a good show and I, highly, recommend it!!! After the show we go to Carmines - we had 10PM reservations - we get there and are seated immediately. It was freezing in there. SP & PK pick up the tab. We then go to Bellagion Fountain Show - first time in Vegas for C - gotta check out Bellagio Fountain show!!! I've seen the show 8 trillion times - IT NEVER GETS OLD!!!! We catch the 11:15 & 11:30 shows. Show is over and I want to go inside to get a drink for our walk back to Caesars. FIL is tired and calls it a day as does SP & PK. MC, C, wife and I go to Bellagio to show them what a very nice casino looks like. At this point C is not feeling well; she had a problem with one of her contact lenses and it was irritating her eye. We leave Bellagio - MC & C called it a night as her eye was bothering here. Wife has not been to Cromwell yet and I sent her all the updates from these boards about the place along with pics - she wants to check it out... We head over to Cromwell and while heading down the escalator wife notices a few women at the bottom of escalation taking pics of each other and bending over, but wearing articles of clothing that really shouldn't be made in sizes that big for select women... Wife expresses to me how disgusted she is by it bla bla bla. Go into Cromwell and head toward Let It Ride tables - $5 min on Friday night... Wife sits down and buys in for $120. I ask her to order me a drink - (Kettle One w/ spash of Tonic) - and said I'll be right back... I throw $20 into a slot machine... I'm playing some buffalo run machine or something close to the front and I see someone run outside. I keep playing and saw 1 more person run outside. I continue playing and see 3-4 people and then more and more people running outside. I hit the 'collect' button (which took me about 45 seconds to locate) and then waited another 20-30 seconds for the ticket to print out (thank goodness it wasn't an emergency!!!!). I go see what's going on... All I see is about 10-12 police officers, 6-8 security personell standing right in front of the place... 1 of the women my wife was commenting about on our way in (at bottom of escalator) was in handcuffs, while another very skinny individual was held up against the wall by a police officer... Cromwell security was holding a pocket book... the cop seemed to be struggling with the skinny individual he held up against the wall and told him at least 4 times (while I was out there) to not move around and cooperate. The individual just kept moving around and calmly saying "I didn't rob no purse; I didn't rob no purse". The cop got so fed up he literally picked up the individual off his feet and SLAMMED him down on the floor on his side - but I mean he SLAMMED him down!!!!!!!!!! The cop was then able to put the cuffs on him and took him inside -not sure where. I'm just standing there watching and all of a sudden there were about 5-6 security guards all lined up covering the entrance on that side - I happened to be standing right behind them and I am just watching what's going on. No one inside at the tables knew what was going on unless they actually saw it. One security guard just turned around, looked at me (smiling) and said "what did you do?" I said "you know me! I start trouble everywhere I go!" They took the woman that was cuffed as well and there was another very petite young lady the cops were trying to help... this young lady seemed dazed and confused - as if someone just knocked her into tomorrow. She was not drunk, she was visibly hurt and could not stand up or walk straight. The cop took her inside and sat her down at a slot machine, they kept asking her if she needed medical attention and she kept saying no, but I think she really needed it. I had to leave at that point because security asked everyone to clear the area. So I went back to the Let it Ride table with my wife and told her what just went down. She had NO CLUE and just kept telling me how she pulled out $200 and didn't hit one single hand in LIR! LOL! Then she pointed out that they were actually service Fiji water bottles in Cromwell. So of course we got a few waters... She hit one or 2 very small hands throughout the whole night but that was about it. We left, went back to room, and went to sleep - around 4:30AM.

    Saturday May 24

Did not set the alarm for Sat morning as I just gave up trying to get into a morning tournament! I know there are tournaments throughout the day, but preferred to play in a tournament early in the morrning so that the rest of the day was available to hang out with everyone else and do whatever everyone else wanted to do. That didn't work out too well for me this trip... Woke up around 10AM. I suggested to my wife we walk around and do the whole touristy sight-seeing stuff since C has never been to Vegas before... She was all for it. We had dinner reservations for The Steakhouse in Circus Circus at 7:30PM that night and it was our last night in Vegas for this trip. I suggested we try Let It Ride in NY NY as we've been lucky there in the past and hasn't worked out so well this trip at CET properties - she agreed. Wife calls up C and suggests walking south on the strip and checking out the casinos down there. We start walking - pass the Bellagio, and into the Cosmopolitan (to get a drink for our walk down the strip)... 3 drinks later we finally leave. We go to Aria - my first time in there. Both wife and I liked Aria - pretty cool! Very nice! On the way out of Aria, C throws $20 in a $.25 machine and cashes out for $65. Wife throws in $20 and walks out empty-handed. We leave and make it to Monte Carlo - approx 3PM or so. The 4 of us thought 7:30PM dinner was too early - let's see if we can push it back. We call and change reservations to 9PM. We go to Monte Carlo and into the food court - wife was hungry as was I, so we grab some food. We continue on and get to NY NY. We walk around the casino so C can get a good look and appreciate it more (we are all from NY)... we finish walking around and I mention to MC the wife and I will play Let It Ride - they don't play Let It Ride; mainly slots. So we agreed to split up to play our respective games and leave by 5PM. We go to Let It Ride - it's a $10 table; not $5. No biggie, after all... it is a Saturday and in AC the limilt would likely be $15... I suggest she try a few hands regardless... 2 guys sitting at the table - wife sits at the end seat. The guy in #4 seat says to wife "you are in the very lucky seat!" My wife says "oh yeah? someone won a lot of money here? what did they hit - a straight flush or something?" The guy says "yeah - very luck seat! Some guy was JUST sitting there, less than 5 minutes ago, and hit a royal flush for $85 thousand dollars". Wife and I said "WHAT?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" The guy says, I'm dead serious! We each got $1K each because we played the dollar. You get $1K if someone hits the royal and you bet the $1. Then, on top of that, the guy tipped us $2K each! We weren't expecting anything at all and we were shocked when he tipped us $2K each!" My jaw just dropped!!! If I was at the right place at the right time... wife and I could've made most of our money back and been just about even! But I don't hate others for being at the right place at the right time and was genuinely happy for all 3 of them! Wife played a few more hands and I mentioned the biggest hand I ever hit was a 4 of a kind. The guy in seat 1 said he hit a Royal as well. I said "Today?!!!!" He laughed and said "No, it was last year. Unfortunately I only hit for $81K" and we all laughed. I asked him which casno he said "right here - this casino". Note: Wife and I are planning a trip and will do a heck of a lot of Let It Ride playing at NY NY casino - trip is scheduled for 1 year from now... apparently it seems to hit every year... Wife lost $100 and we left - met up with MC and C. Walked over to Excalibur and Luxor - didn't spend much time in either, just a very quick tour inside each one. Then headed over to MGM - plan was to play the Lions Share progressive machine. Asked a floorperson for the location of the machine (was by the high limit slot room). Walked over and a woman was playing the slot machine - had a little over 175 credits and didn't seem as though she was getting up anytime soon. It's around 6:30PM now - plan was to meet FIL at Wynn before heading to dinner at Circus Cirucs. Plan was to meet there by 8PM and take a cab around 8:30PM. Everyone, but me, was exhausted from all the walking we did that day. I suggested everyone sit and relax a bit before walking back to Wynn. Wife wanted to go back to shower, change her clothes, to go to dinner, but we were a bit short on time. Told her we wouldn't have time for her to change. She was concerned there was a dress code for dinner - I told her there wasn't and she was fine... We left MGM around 7PM. We trooped it to Wynn - I suggested I walk ahead and stop by our room in Caesars to pick up the bottle of Kettle One we had from the night before. Since I walk much faster than they do and I wasn't AS tired as they were - I would, eventually catch up to them... I left them at Planet Hollywood and went to our room in Caesars - I caught up to them just past Palazzo... We finally get to Wynn and everyone is exhausted! It's around 7:55PM or so and we all plop ourselves down at some slot machines. The good thing is the chairs in Wynn are sooooooo comfortable... We stay there for a bit and take a cab around 8:45 from Wynn to Circus Circus.

The taxi line was ridiculously long at Wynn and I thought the taxi guys face/reaction was priceless when we were asked where we were going and we said "Circus Cirucs" kinda like... who the hell goes from Wynn (one extreme) to Circus Circus (other extreme)... LOL! We get to Circus Circus and sit down. Bottle of Kettle One along with a sleeve of red cups and 2 bottles of cranberry juice in a swatch shopping bag. We stick it under the table while we eat. SP & PK meet us there.... FIL orders Salmon with mashed potatoes, SP orders Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes, PK orders Ribeye on Bone with mashed potatoes along with Oysters, C orders Filet Mignon and asks it to be butterflied and wants it well done with mashed potatoes, MC orders Ribeye with Veggies, Wife orders ribeye on bone with mashed potatoes, I ordered Ribeye (no bone) with baked potato. They order salads as well - I don't eat salad. Food comes. Everyone checking their meal getting ready to dig in, but trying to wait for everyone else to get their food. I got my food and dig into my steak immediately. C finally gets hers and starts cutting into it... it's not well done nor butterflied so she pushes her plate forward on the table - upset. MC asks the waiter to cook it more. No one else had a problem with their meal.... C's food comes back she checks again - no red - takes a bite of her steak. She asks MC for his phone (flashlight on phone). He hands it to her, she flashes the light on her plate, puts his phone down on the table, pushes her plate forwars, grabs her purse and storms out of the restaurant. We're all sitting there wondering what's going on... MC says there's a hair in the mashed potato. Everyone else continues eating and everyone thinking -maybe she went to bathroom and is coming back. She never comes back. Point it out to waiter and he calls over manager. Manager comes over asking what the problem is, MC explains, starts taking out his phone and manager says "I see it, it's right there" and points to it. He apologizes and says he will not charge us for her meal and offers to get her anything else she wants. We said no thank you. We finish eating - bill comes. FIL & MC split the $400 bill. We leave - find C right outside. She's fuming. MC asks why she walked out and said the right thing for her to do was to stay there rather than leaving. C said "Would you rather I have stayed there and cursed him out?!!!!" MC asks why the waiter should be cursed out - it wasn't his fault there was a hair... they argued for a bit. FIL wanted to go back to Wynn - we all agreed to go back to Wynn. We hopped in 2 cabs and headed over. We still had the bag with Kettle One, cups, and cran juice but no ice. MC and I decide we'll try to jump on an elevator and go up to one of the floors and grab some ice from vending machine. Didn't work out so well as security was checking for room keys. MC and I go to bar on casino floor and MC asks bartender if we can get 2 cups of ice. Bartender asks why - apparently ice is used for many other purposes at Wynn or something. MC says "it's for our drinks - I"ll tip you; don't worry about that". He gives us 2 cups of ice and MC tips the bartender $5. We find a few vacant video poker machines and pour our drinks. Just enough for 4 FULL drinks... we throw away the empty bottle, C puts the remaining bottle of cran juice in her purse, I squeeze the remaining red cups in the pocket of my baggy cargo shorts, we throw away the swatch bag. FIL, SP, PK head over to Encore - we stay at Wynn. Wife and I head over to Let It Ride - MC & C stay at slots. LIR is $25 min - NO SHOT we playing... the 4 of us decide to head back to Harrahs. We call FIL and let him know we leaving. We stop at Venetian so C can check out the painted ceiling... and we stop by the food court so C can FINALLY grab something to eat - since she didn't eat anything at the steakhouse... It's somewhere around 12:30AM or so... she grabs some pizza. We head over to Harrahs - LIR was $5 on Sat night... Wife and I play LIR - MC & C play slots. Wife and I ask for our usual (Kettle One w/ Splash of Tonic) - waitress says "Absolut? Stoli?" I look back at her and say "Kettle?" She stares at me for about 45 seconds and doesn't say a word. We're just looking each other in the eyes. I finally gave in and said "Yes? No?" SHe responds "Do you have a Diamond card?" I said "nope, I have a Platinum Card". She said "well then you can have Absolut or Stoli". I said "I'm good - I don't need anything". My wife decides to put in her 2 cents and points out that for the past few nights we've been coming here we were given kettle with no questions asked - wife and I can tell the difference between Kettle and Absolut/Stoli - we were given Kettle. Waitress said - well you weren't supposed to... Whoever serviced you was wrong for doing so and would be in trouble. My wife asked "can't I get Kettle for $2?" Someone else at the table told my wife she can do that - we had no idea as we were getting Kettle every other time we went in there. Waitress said "yep, I can do that". This happened to be an older woman, her breasts were so pushed up I'm not sure how she didn't choke herself!!! Just because she had gigantic boobs I guess she thought she can get away with whatever she wants. If you're expecting me to care - you'll be waiting a VERY LONG TIME! Wife and I lose - MC & C won a few dollars... It's around 2:30AM or so - MC is playing roulette... Wife and I are done - no more gambling funds! We leave MC at roulette table. Head back to Caesars and pass out.

We check out the next day - around 10:45AM, jump in a cab and head to the airport for our 12:30PM flight back to NY.

    C - left Vegas a winner
MC - left Vegas a winner
FIL - left Vegas a winner
SP - left Vegas a winner
PK - left Vegas a winner
Wife and I - lost approx $3500 gambling (mostly by myself).

Wife and I lost but had a GREAT time!!! This was 8th or 9th Vegas trip for Wifey and I - and probably one of the most fun trips... Looking forward to scheduling another trip next May. We used to go twice a year (May and Sep) but that has proved to be challenging as we have 2 children and getting them to school and extracuriccular activities is difficult when we're not around. FIL expressed his desire to stay at Wynn next trip - I'm not so sure about that though... I like Wynn - a lot, but not a fan of $25 min tables. I wouldn't mind going back to Harrahs or even try a non-CET property such as Bellagio or Mirage. We'll figure it out as it gets closer to that time. Wife and I were also considering going during the week as opposed to Wed - Sun (as ALL of our trips to Vegas have been). The reason being wife and I do not go to clubs and we didn't appreciate all the "rif raf" we saw on the weekend. Had a MUCH better time - much more enjoyable - with less people in town on Wednesday and Thursday.

Waitress at Harrahs on Sat night was the most disappointing part of the trip - not even losing $3500 phased me! Why did she wait so long to ask me if I had a diamond card? Is there a certain profile/appearance categorization for diamond players???? note: I was a diamond for 6 years straight from 2005-2010; I have played considerably less in casinos since that time and maintain Platinum status now (2 kids vs 1 kid diminshes my gambling allowance in a given year). Why didn't she offer the $2 option right away? Like she's running Sh__ and she's making such a difference in CET's bottom line? Whatever!!!

Sorry for the LENGTHY trip report - note: I actually left out a bunch of other details (mostly minor and mainly related to SP & PK (the party poopers of the trip)) - though that did not, in any way, prevent the rest of us from having a great time!!!

Sounds like a great trip! Too bad the tourneys didn't really work out. But sounds like a ton of fun nonetheless!

Great trip report! Sorry about your losses, lack of a good tournament, and experience with the waitress at Harrahs. Hopefully your next trip will make up for this one!

Great report! Sorry you didn't do well, takes even more effort to write these up when that happens. And that waitress at Harrah's would annoy me too even if her coworkers were supposed to check (and they are, but in reality even asking just makes the waitress look bad, imo). Basically that $2 upcharge would have been her tip if it was me.

Nice trip report. FYI - I know the amounts were small, but casinos sometimes overreact to people cashing out money they find in a machine. You father-in-law could of had some problems.

Great report. I'm not big on slots or VP player reports but you wrote a very enjoyable piece. There always seems to be a party pooper if there's more than 4 people involved in a trip. I wouldn't mind staying at a place like the wynn for a decent price, but i would not have much fun with the tables being $25 and above most of the time.

It's clearly illegal in some states. Nevada I forget though. I usually don't do it just in case. But I rarely find things "truly abandoned" that are > $1 anyway. Obviously there are times when I see machines that have $15 or $20 in them with the chair turned around, but I would expect someone to be prosecuted if they got caught taking one of those.

Thank you all. It's usually a bad trip - for me - when I lose as much as I did this past trip. But I can, honestly, say I had a great time nonetheless.

My FIL actually does it in Atlantic City - pretty much every day. A few buddies of his do the same - so he has some competition there. LOL! Whether or not it's legal in AC -I have no idea.

I, regularly, receive offers in the mail for reduced rates at Wynn - usually $109-129 during the week; $189-$229 on weekends - depending on time of the year... I'm sure it would be comped at the end of my stay based on my play, but the $25 table limits wouldn't cut it for us. We'll see - there's always Mirage or Bellagio - never stayed at any non-CET property in Vegas.

Thanks for taking the time to read through the report - glad you guys enjoyed it.

    Happy belated birthday.
I see someone already commented about taking money out of the machine. It could be a potential problem.
Nice detailed report but what about pictures. It can't be detailed without pictures.
