Leaving tomorrow morning for Paradise (,NV). Very excited! Part of my itinerary is going to Ellis Island and then to Mandalay Bay to walk my way back to Bally's. My question is how to get a cab from Ellis Island. It has been a long time since I have gotten a cab in LV that was not at one of the major hotels that has an army of taxis waiting.

At home, if I was at a bar I would ask the bartender to call. Is it the same style in LV? Or should I just call some random cab company?

    Appreciate your advice.

You would think that you could just wait outside for a taxi to drop someone off, but that's not as simple as you think. I would call or have someone inside the casino call a taxi for you.

I don't know if things have changed or not, maybe somebody with more recent info can chime in. When I went there in 2006, we walked over from Bill's. It was late when we were leaving so we figured we'd cab back to Bill's. We had the front desk person call from the motel. She told us point blank that cabs don't pick up from there, we'd have to walk back. We waited a while.....no cab. We walked over to the Westin and ended up deciding to go to the Walmart. The cab picked us up at the Westin fine. But, the same thing happened from the Walmart, they won't pick up. We started walking to the bus stop and a cab driver stopped for us. He was on his way to the strip from dropping some local off. He gave us a stern talking to :nono: about us 2 "young girls" (35 years old each) wandering around on our own. He took us to the Gold Coast, scolding us the whole time. Anyway, the moral of the story is, find out if the cabs will pick up from there or not and maybe have a plan B like the bus.

I generally walk to the Westin to get a cab but a lot of the times you will be able to get one that is at the 7-11 you pass on the way.

Walk from MB to Bally's? You do know the low temp tomorrow will be 82....right?

Cab from Ellis Island is simple. Contrary to the above post the clerk at the motel WILL call for you, or you can flag down a cab. MTY cab have their yellow lights on. Don't drink too much....:vomit:

Like I said, it was a while ago. I'm glad things changed.

But, I stated that the motel 6 Ellis Island front desk clerk DID call the cab for us. I never said the front desk clerk refused to call for us. You can correct me when I'm wrong...but at least read my post correctly.

LOL. I'm not going to walk directly from MB to ballys. Its casino hopping over the entire day.
