Has anyone ever bought "free stay" rooms from people that aren't using them? If so, where does one go to do this...Ebay?

Would you be referring to trying to purchase a comp room from someone?

If that's the case it's pretty much not going to happen. I have more room comps than I can use all year long but I have to check in in person to use them. I have put up close friends that I could trust in comped rooms when they were there with me but I still had to do the check in in person.

Even if I could "sell" my comps I wouldn't as I have no idea who I am selling them to. If I sold them I would be awash in worry about them trashing the room etc.

    Hope that helps.

If somebody has a comped room at a Las Vegas hotel they can't just sell it to you.

First, the comp room is meant for the player based on their level of play in the casino so the casino isn't just going to let them give or sell the room to let anybody stay there for free.

That means the hotel will require the person with the comp room to be there at check in with their ID and players club card.

So the only way this would work is if the person was in Las Vegas at the same time, IE: if I had 3 free nights at Aria and was selling them to you I would have to be in Las Vegas at the same time and staying at a property other than one owned by MGM, then I would have to meet you somewhere where we would go to the hotel and check in under my name and add your name to the reservation.

And from there its risky on both sides: to me you could trash the room, steal stuff from the room, empty out the minibar, etc. and that could damage future comps or leave me being sued for any extra damage you've done to the place. For you, even if I gave you my key as soon as we part I could go to the front desk and ask for a new room key and then find a spot near the elevators and watch for you to come out and then as soon as you are gone go up to "our" room and rummage through all your stuff, steal your money and anything of value.

Thing is, for me to rob you I wouldn't even need a comp room: with the use of fake IDs I could go pay for the room, meet up with you somewhere and just tell you its a comp room that I won't be using, give you the keys and then wait until you are gone from the room and then go up and steal from it: as long as I think the value of what you bring is going to be more than the cost of the room I'll come out ahead, especially in a place like Las Vegas where people have lots of cash.
