I waited too long to book my favorite carrier (Alamo). Huge price increase, more than I want to pay.
I see Budget for about $70 cheaper - any thoughts on Budget? I am hesitant after seeing negative reviews on other sites.
Any input would be appreciated! Picking up car on Jan 11, returning on Jan 14.

    Thanks!

We have never had a prolem using Budget via Costco travel. Always been hassle free; some times a bit of a wait at desk. Slight asking if intrested in insurance stuff but NOT pushy.

They can be demanding of receipt for gas on return; I always have it; but have never been asked for it. Go figure.

A ex islander trans plant working there gave us a nice upgrade for nothing on a trip with the grandkids to a brand new Toyota Sienna van which proved great with grandkids/wifes shopping extravagazas.

Budget is the little sister of Avis. I've used them on occasion. No issues.

I've used Budget in the past and have had no issues. And yes they have given me free upgrades as well (the agent saw me towing my golf clubs and said I needed a bigger car/trunk lol). Good place! However, I'm rolling with Alamo this April since I received a great deal there for a Cadillac (luxury car).

I'm not famous for getting deals on car rentals. But, I've seen some savings from booking with costco travel, american express travel and hotwire.

We've been renting from Alamo for decades. They used to allow spouse as 2nd driver without charge. Then our AARP card or Alamo Insider # got 2nd driver free. But now our only option with Alamo is paying for the 2nd driver.

So I booked with Budget (2nd driver comp with AARP card.) Glad to hear the positive feedback.
