And to be honest - there would be much better deals. MGM and CET cards really are no big deal. Get one of the travel cards that give you 25-50 or even 100,000 miles right off that you can use way more places that one casino.

Laurel and I both have the Total Rewards credit card and it gets us each to Platinum status. We could not get there any other way. Not really a big deal, but we get VIP check in so we don't have to stand in the Disneyland style lines. We both charge enough that we have the VIP pass. This allows us access to every one of their pools in Las Vegas and that is extremely important to us..

Yea, the Plat status has some value. But - do you two travel together? If so, you only need one of you at Plat, yes?

Yes we travel together but have separate accounts with separate comps. We did that in 2011 when they had the "Great American Race" promotion. After visiting so many locations around the country in a certain time frame, they gave out some outrageous comp dollars to each of us. But yes. you are correct. Her Platinum is all we really need. She does all the gambling and all the free rooms are in her name.

I have the TR credit card, and got all the big deals for the first year. The 2nd year I had the card, I needed to get a new casino card, and was only given the gold card. But trust me, I'm still using the TR credit card a lot! Heading to the Promise Land in just a few days and I will just be an gold low life, standing in line with no deals.

^^^ Each time you make a purchase with the card your platinum status is extending by 6 months so you should not have been downgraded to gold as long as you have used your card.

correction to what I just posted above, that used to be the case but now it says you have to spend $5000 in a calendar year to maintain platinum status.

My TR card initial bonus was two 'buffet of buffets' passes, last time I checked the initial bonus was two High Roller tickets, plus about two hundred dollars worth of points. Platinum status got us a TR club line upgrade in Vegas, two free casino gifts from our home casino. Since I don't stay on thr Strip it wasn't worth it to me to maintain platinum.

I actually just found out Allegiant brought their credit card back, so I immediately signed up for...since that's the only airline we use to got to Vegas (cheap and close) it works perfectly.
