Where do you get the most bang for your buck out on the Boulder Highway? SAMs Town, Cannery, etc??
We like Sam's Town the best....but definitely not "lively"...none of the Boulder Strip is...
But for good quality food, nice rooms, and good gambling, it's a great bang-for-the-buck.
I would agree with Sam's town for the most overall casino on boulder.
Probably Boulder Station next then East side cannery
We've stayed at Sams Town a couple of times and played there a number of times more. I definitely feel you get more "bang for buck" than you get on the Strip. The only trouble is it's way out in the middle of nowhere and far from the center of the action. You will definitely need a car unless all you want to do is play at the one and only hotel/casino.
I agree on Sam's Town for casino and rooms. If you want some good food bargains try AZ Charlie's.
I've stayed many times on the Boulder strip and I would say that ST would be best overall. It has very good food offerings, plus a food court and movie theatres. The large casinos offers any machine you want I'm sure, but I read last week that some VP has been downgraded.
My next choice would be the Can East. The best basic rooms on the strip and they come with a fridge. Food choices are ok but not as numerous. Buffet is only open for lunch and dinner, but the sportsbook deli has good sans. Snaps coffee shop is fine for breakfast.
Third choice would be Boulder Station. Again food has all bases covered and they have a food court. There's a bar across from checkin that I always liked and the wood walkway that runs the perimeter of the casino is cool. The rooms are basic, but clean. I just never warmed up to the casino. The fact that I've never won there has nothing to do with my opinion!
Last on the list would be Charlies. Food is limited and mediocre. The casino is small and unappealing. The room I had was a suite with outdoor access as all are. Before it opened with gambling, it was called Sunrise Suites, so I assume all are such. I had a room close to the casino front so it wasn't bad, however, if I had room on the other side and had to walk back at 2am after $1500 craps win I might be a bit uncomfortable. All in all, not much reason to stay there.
Hope this helps.

Another vote for Sam's. That's the only Boulder Hwy. hotel I've stayed at (many times), and have also played at Boulder Station, Arizona Charlie's, and the Cannery. I've gotten there via the 202, but have also ridden the free shuttle bus between Sam's and Harrah's and between Sam's and downtown. That makes it pretty easy, especially without a car or after drinking all day. I've even walked between Sam's and Boulder Station, but wouldn't recommend it as ideal transportation!
