I play DDB almost exclusively. But after reading the exploits of The Flusher and BeeeJay, and their love of Boner Deluxe (and stiff drinks), I've become somewhat intrigued.

The strategy is easy enough; pretty similar to DDB. So learning (at least a rudimentary version) by next Friday shouldn't be too difficult. But I have no idea what sort of pay tables I can expect.

I'm most interested in pay tables on the strip (in the Wynncore vicinity would be a bonus) at $1 and $5 levels. I'm willing to play multi-line games, including STP and the like, at $1, but can't afford them at $5.

I can find all the 9/6 DDB I want at Wynncore at $5 (or $1 when I don't need comped drinks). I know 9/6 Bonus Deluxe is a significantly "better" game than 9/6 DDB - is 9/6 at $5 or less asking too much from the strip? Can I find it downtown? If not, what will I be able to find?

    Many thanks!

Yes, I know about vpfree2. But it is so far from a complete picture of what's available that I just use it as a starting point.

I thought full pay on Bonus Poker Deluxe was 8/6.
I have only seen 8/5 at the M.
    On the strip mostly 7/5 @.25 and $1. Don't play $5 BPD.
That was Caesars and MGM Grand. Not sure about Wynn, since I havent been there for a year or so.

I am not seeing it anywhere you want unfortunately.

Looks like only at the off strip properties.

I get to play this at my "local" 4 hour away boat. 3-play .50 at 15 credit max per hand. Love it when it is hitting at $600 per quad.

Full pay Boner Deluxe is 9/6 and it pays a little bit better than the missionary position Jacks or Better.

You probably won't find better than 8/6 on the strip.

9/6 dollars can be found in abundance at the Fremont downtown.

I guess the strategy is somewhere between Jacks and DDB, without the emphasis on Aces draws. e.g. hold A Q unsuited where as on DDB you'd hold just the ace. And you wouldn't break fulls house up in Boner Deluxe.

You also draw to inside straights on Boner in most cases (with nothing else to hold) whereas you wouldn't on Jacks.

    Hmmm, Jacks=missionary, Boner Deluxe=half and half, DDB= :nono: :wink2:

    Thanks, Flusher!

(I've always pegged DDB as the tranny hooker of the VP world...but that's probably due to the amount of shame I feel after a long session.:rolleyes2:)

Unfortunately, it is too much to ask for on the strip for nearly any property. Strip properties balk at offering 9/6 JoB, so they are going to definitely hesitate offering a game better than that.

The one exception is if you want to go to Circus Circus and play 5-play quarters. Those are also Dream card units (optional bet). Wynn has 8/6 obv from BeeeJay's older trip reports. From this last trip report, it looks like 8/5 at Palazzo. Aria apparently has 8/6 with STP from this latest trip report, which is only 0.21% lower than regular 9/6 DDB return.

Downtown it looks like there are a couple of options. Fremont for 9/6 at the dollar level. El Cortez has it with Multi Strike and Multi Strike w/STP for quarters. 8/6 with progressive exists at the D.

Cosmo has bonus deluxe on their Double Super Times Pay games, but I know it's not 8/6 at the quarter level, otherwise I would have played it instead of 7/5 Bonus (best option). Hopefully it's 8/5 Bonus Deluxe (I don't remember)...

8/5 Bonus Deluxe is at the MGM Grand at one of the bars (the biggest one I think), where I played it in September as it was the best bartop they had for that bar. The trip report also shows a couple other bartops with 8/5...one at Casino Royale, and the other at Cosmo (non-progressive) at least. The progressive was 7/5. BeeeJay and Royal Flusher could fill this better than I could obv.

Several Ultimate X games have Bonus Deluxe too, but the only full pay game I am aware of (8/6 is full pay at Ult X - 99.70% on 10-play quarters) is at South Point. Of course, playing perfect is humanly impossible, and the best you can do with a single strategy is 99.67%. And the strategy is more heavily weighted to making flushes and straights, detailed in the link below.
http://wizardofodds.com/games/video-poker/strategy/ultimate-x/bonus-poker-deluxe/ If you can find 8/5 for Ult X on the strip, that would be pretty good.

South Point also has 9/6 Bonus Deluxe on the floor (up to the $2 level) as do many other off-strip properties. But the only off-strip properties that have 9/6 Bonus Deluxe on bartops are at Eureka, Skyline, and Suncoast, according to VPFree2.

And yeah, the strategy for 9/6 Bonus Deluxe is pretty damn similar to 9/6 DDB. Main changes are:

The Ace isn't worth extra anymore, so AK, AQ, AJ offsuit are holds again like in Jacks or Better. And for 3 offsuit high cards, always pick the two lowest except KQJ, where you hold all three.

For straight draws, only KQJT is better than a low pair.

High pair is always better than 3 to a Royal for non-progressives.

Two pairs are never broken. Full Houses are never broken.

    Hope this helps.

All this Boner Deluxe Talk makes me want to play it. I'll set aside $20 to take a stab at 9/6 quarters in Tunica this weekend.

    It does indeed. Thanks, tringlomane!

8/6 STP at Aria...nice. I can live with that for a change of pace. If nothing else it'll give me an excuse to grab a slice at 550.

(Since I started this thread I've been practicing a little Boner Deluxe on the ol' WinPoker...of course the first quad I hit was aces with a kicker. :rolleyes2: I'm afraid I might be spending the night in the Clark County lock-up if that were to happen with real money.)

Best of luck in Tunica this WE.

Bonus Deluxe strategy is very close to JOB with a few DDB variations thrown in. There is less emphasis on attacking the ace so, unless you want to learn Bonus Deluxe strategy, I would stick to JOB strategy rather than DDB. I think this adds 0.03% to the HA so still a 99.61% game at 9/6.

The problem is availability. 8/6 is the best on the strip (Encore, Aria). For 9/6 you would need to be downtown or off strip. Orleans is probably easiest to get to.

Somebody remind me but since you dont get the premium quad bonus on Boner Deluxe, why wouldnt you just play DDB instead? Does it pay 2 to 1 for 2 pair? Isnt every quad $400? Since at $1 level, you get $150 more for a regular quad, but you lose out on the premium quad payouts...

Can anyone confirm if there is still $1 Boner Deluxe at Wynn?

The pay tables are very similar for the 9/6 games. The average payout for a quad at DDB would be under $400 on the $1 game and exactly $400 (obviously!) for Bonus Deluxe. That is where the difference in overall return comes from.

DDB offers the thrill of the $2000 return for a quad which many seek, although most quads are, of course, $250. So higher variance, potential larger pay days but lower overall return.

Thanks! And gl on your upcoming trip!

Yep. And I don't think I have ever watched anyone else play the game other than myself yet...lol So I don't expect casinos to readily offer it. I forgot about Orleans. That's a good place if you want a free shuttle to the Strip. But it might be too low-roller for carve, they only offer 1-play quarters there for 9/6.

Boner Deluxe that pays 2 for 1 for 2 pair? WHERE?!?!?! :drooling: If that game pops up, let me know...I wanna play a 112.5% game.

Seriously though, Boner Deluxe does only pay 1 for 1 on 2 pair. And even though AWAK pays out $2000 at the dollar level on DDB, what does the "average" quad pay?

If one assumes that all quads are equal (not quite, but it's close, except for aces) it looks like this:

    Aces: 3/4 = 800; 1/4 = 2000; Avg. = 1100 (1 rank)
    2-4s: 3/4 = 400; 1/4 = 800; Avg. = 500 (3 ranks)
    5-Ks: 250 (9 ranks! :()

    Average quad = (1100 + 3*500 + 9*250) / 13 = 373.08

Now strategy changes in DDB (breaking 2 pair with Aces; breaking Aces full) will definitely skew the probability of Aces upward a bit, so if we take data from the "Wizard of Odds" for 9/6 DDB:

    Average quad:
    (2000/16,236.35 + 800/5,761.03 + 800/6,983.41 + 400/2,601.42 + 250/613.43) / (1/16,236.35 + 1/5,761.03 + 1/6,983.41 + 1/2,601.42 + 1/613.43) = 0.9379083/0.00239295 = 391.95

So, average quad in DDB: 391.95
Quads in Boner Deluxe: always 400

Also the fact that all quads are equal helps boost Bonus Poker Deluxe's return even further since now the strategy for bonus poker deluxe will now let you hit a bit more full houses (about 5.8% more actually) since you never will break 2 pair. Considering everything, this adds up to a 0.66% difference believe it or not. Now all of this doesn't override the full house/flush payouts. If those two numbers don't sum up to be equal to each other, then whichever game has the highest sum is the best paying game. Examples: 9/6 Bdlx > 9/6 DDB, 9/6 DDB > 8/6 Bdlx, 8/6 Bdlx > 9/5 DDB, 9/5 DDB > 8/5 Bdlx, etc.

Now hitting AWAK on DDB is like hooking up with the hottest chick in Cosmo, but how often is that gonna happen?

As a wise man recently said:

Any good bartops at Orleans, Tubbs? Or are the good games out on the floor?

Actually, my bankroll “shouldn’t” be able to support a full trip of $5 DDB…at least not comfortably. It has just happened that my “good luck” has come at the beginning of my trips lately. Surviving a seven or eight thousand dollar losing streak is much easier to handle (and justify, at least using my degenerate logic) when you start out six grand to the good. So, I’m definitely interested in plenty of $1 and quarter action as well – especially on the bar tops, if good games are available there.

Nice explanation of DDB vis-à-vis Bdlx, BTW.

For me (and I assume most), the reason for contemplating Bdlx is just the frustration I can sometimes feel with DDB. It seems that unless you hit some premium quads, or many more garden variety ones than you “should”, your session is going to end up a losing one. And (at the $5 level), there is nothing more annoying than walking away, down two grand but with $3750 worth of W-2Gs in your pocket! :grrr:

Obviously, the highs are pretty freaking sweet in DDB, though. One AWAK can erase a few days of terrible luck.

From what I've read, the pay tables for VP at CET properties are the worse you will find anywhere. I only need a few thousand TC to reach diamond so I will exclusively be gambling at CET properties this trip, specifically at the Flamingo.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what VP game to play at the Flamingo specifically (except Deuces Wild - I hate that game)?

    Thanks!

For Bonus Deluxe, the good games are on the casino floor (and only 25c, as tringlomane pointed out). Full pay Bonus Poker is available at the bars but not what you are looking for.

For $1 games you are looking at places like Fremont, GVR, Red Rock, Suncoast, South Point... Not exactly on your doorstep. Fremont is easy enough but not my favourite place to play.

Suncoast even has the 9/6 game at the bars but you would need a hire car unless you fancy a long ride on the WAX. :wink2:

I think 7/5 BP is about as good as it gets at Flamingo. You can find a similar game with STP at PH. Rio has 8/5 BP at the $1 level.

Have you factored in the tier credit bonuses to determine the best way to earn the number of TCs you need?

Ya I'm about 4k TC short for Diamond, so I'm best off just pounding a VP machine in one day, getting 2500 TC and the 5k bonus!

What about this machine at the Flamingo?:
$1, $2, $5 10 Play Slant All Star Poker machines in high limit room

Tubbs beat me to it as I threw up another wall of text, but anyway...lol

The bartops are Orleans are okay, but the only 99%+ game they offer at the bar is 8/5 bonus (99.17%) I think, but that game does pay 2 for 1 on 2 pair, so your bankroll will be a lot safer if you play it. Unfortunately that paytable isn't included in the the nice new bar at the front of the casino with a bunch of beer taps. That one is 7/5 Bonus w/progressive. I don't know offhand if Bonus Deluxe is offered at the bars or not.

The only Boyd property with 9/6 Bonus Deluxe at the bar (sportbook and island) is Suncoast, which is a significant endeavor without a car. But the WAX bus will apparently take you there $2 cash each way (forty minute bus ride each way starting from just behind MGM Grand along Tropicana). I'll probably give it a shot in a future trip; I've personally never been there though to give general thoughts.

    http://www.rtcsnv.com/wp-content/uploads/routes/2013/WAX(07-07-13).pdf

Oh okay...I thought you were leaning toward dollar and higher. And I really wouldn't recommend $5 Boner Deluxe anyway since like DDB, every quad is now a tax form, meh. And yeah, in DDB, the garden variety quads aren't always enough without a lot of them. Boner Deluxe only tends to sting a lot when you are just plain quad droughting or hitting 2 pair like no one's business, same as DDB.

One word of warning if you haven't play STP though before, the variance of 8/6 Bdlx w/STP at Aria is higher than standard DDB. Because your results are also tied to the hands you get with multipliers. You don't have to play the STP though, but I would. I love that damn game! And remember, you don't have to play every line either to play 5 or 6 credits per line, just use the touch screen to adjust lines and bet per line.

How to hit AWAK on Boner Deluxe w/STP.

This is pretty much true, but I swear I double checked Flamingo last trip (Sept.), and they do have 7/5 Bonus w/STP for quarters near the poker room, so that's an option if they have a few thousand TCs to earn. I like PHo Better though since they offer it for nickels and dimes as well and more lines equal more fun, imo.

VPFree hasn't been updated in awhile on Flamingo. And they have a bad habit of not listing games that don't meet the > 99% requirement even if they are the best available. There are some 9/6 DDB games in various casinos still missing from that list because they used to not think (and some still do) that 98.98% is good enough to mention. When I am not feeling lazy and report, I always report 98.9%+ because this is often the best DDB or Deuces available. I'll include gimmick bets in the return, so 8/6 Bonus Deluxe with Double STP (98.49% w/o and 98.99% with DSTP) or 7/5 Bonus with Ultimate X (~99.3%-99.4%) would make the cut as well.

Well, you would rather play Triple Play instead I think (you must play all 10 hands for that game you listed)...3 play is also listed on VPFree2. If you're not wanting to trek to Rio, it's okay. Also not listed on VPFree2 is 7/5 Bonus w/STP (98.29%) at Flamingo for 25c, 50c, $1, I think? At least that is what I half-ass recall seeing in September. It really depends on how much swing you want to have while playing slash how long you want to take getting the 2500 TC. I would play quarter STP for 3-lines first I think, but then again I am a STP addict and would want to play for hours...lol
