Any one going to be in Las Vegas for Halloween or the BOB DYLAN/ Mark Knopfler show?
Ya know...Knopfler I'd love to see but Bob...? not any more I think.
I saw him a year or two back at the Colosseum with John Mellencamp.
John opened and put on a great Show.
Bob came on, it didn't matter what song he was doing, he sang 'em
all in monotone...no variation at all. Didn't smile, talk to the audience,
even played with his back to the crowd on several songs.
Now I've seen him years ago during his 'Blood On The Track' period...
he was wonderful but I was real disappointed this last time and left early.
If you're a fan, you're a fan. Dylan is living history...Just be prepared
for the mood of a master artist.
I'd also have problems recommending Dylan to anyone except a hard core fan, or history buff. I saw him at the Aladdin six years ago. While I didn't notice any issues with his manner, his voice was another thing. I wrote: "Sadly, Dylan's voice is pretty much gone. If you don't already know the words to his songs, you won't learn them by listening. I knew this in advance, and the band was good, but I think this will be my last Dylan concert."
Yep..I understand. Most people either love him or hate him. His voice has always been a controversy. His performances, equally so. His writing however..no debating it. The greatest songwriter ever! He is a "legend" however, and currently a "living" legend. As long as he is alive and touring, I hope to be able to see his show every once and a while. I have been defending him since I was about 13 years old, so I have heard it all.
