The current BJ conditions are pushing me to the slots, since I stay at the MGM I will go to the Tropicana to play BJ $10 from a shoe. So on that note lets talk slots. When new slots come out do you think that the payout might be a little lower figuring that people are going to play them because they are new, and the house has to pay for the machine, are you better off playing an older stand-by machine that has been paid for many times over. Or am I just a conspiracy theorist

Well math wise you are probably better playing 6/5 BJ than slots as far as return goes.

That being said there is a lot of playable BJ around, you just have to find it as opposed to it just being everywhere.

To the other point, who really knows property to property or even same slot to slot? Other than the executives like the slot director everyone garnered by players would be confirmation bias. Find what you like, blast that little button and hope for the best! (unless you find a bank that guarantees payout, but not the up to 98% ones)

The payouts suck on slots and sadly to say I am a slot player only I would stick with blackjack if you can

I am with you Winner. I just cant set at a 6/5 table. I am mad the whole time I am setting there and it is just no fun. I think I will try some VP before I turn to slots.

I just can't play slots. It is mind numbing to me. Thankfully good blackjack games still exist above the $50 level.

Even 1:1 blackjack is better than slots.
Wait a sec, I am a slots player.

Another alternative is video poker, a little less mind-numbing than slots. In some cases it can have just as high payback as good BJ, if you use correct strategy. And even some of the bad video poker paytables can be better than 6/5 blackjack, or at very least better than slots! Also craps is another good option for payback, pass/come with even single odds is way better than 6/5. Slots are the worst.

A lot of new slots have lower payback because they're licensed (Walking Dead, Ellen, etc) and so the Casino has to pay more to offer them, so they make the payback worse to make up for it.

And 1:1 BJ is easier to find at bartops. Although many newer Game Kings have a few IGT slots available.

As for OPs other question. Yes, the newer the slot is the more likely I would believe it pays slightly lower. But I have no real proof to back that up. I just know penny slot returns slowly decrease over the years, and the casinos replace older games for newer ones as well.

Exactly this... they could have an Ellen slot higher than Texas tea... you really never know.

If you like slots, then great.

But to think some new slots are coming out with some better pay table.... let me say this.

OP, you say your staying at MGM. Also keep in mind almost all the new penny slots are either licensed ( Hangover, Friends, etc.) or they are progressive. Those machines are $10 for one slot point. That is the same as video poker. In my opinion Mlife has the worst slot program for newer penny slots. Just something to keep in mind.

Play new slots just to see the fancy new graphics and cabinets and to see if the new "innovations" are interesting. But save most of your bankroll for the older stuff. And in general, the new theme stuff tends to be stuff you can't even figure a way to win on.
