    Glad you posted the figures, i remember doing the sums on this just for 13 hands where the dealer made BJ 4, and not 9 and it was close, albeit still bad.
    Having said that I don't ever take insurance because its still even money on a 9-4 shot on that specific hand.

    Good rule of thumb......

    Any side wager that a casino ever offers you is not worth your money. They would not offer these side bets if they did not pay off for the house. In making an insurance bet you are giving up a large part of YOUR advantage over the house when you get paid off at 3/2 on BJ. Taking even money on this you are really giving the house a larger pc than they should have. The one caveat to this is if you are an accomplished counter, then this bet can be profitable from time to time. But overall, the insurance bet is not a good one. The casinos simply would not offer it if it did not favor the house.
