    Hi everyone.

I'm looking for advice as my wife and I are going to Vegas later this year. We'll be there from Sunday 18th August staying a week for my 30th birthday and also our 1st wedding anniversary. There are really two things that I'm looking for some advice/ideas about.

    1. Upgrade

We've booked a petite king room at the MGM and, in the hope of getting an upgrade or something extra, the travel agent has put the reasons why we are going to Vegas on the booking. Anyone know what the likelihood of us getting anything through this is or should I still try the $20 trick?

    2. Things to do

I've been to Vegas once before about 3 years ago with some friends of mine and as we were a group of fellas we were happy to sit gambling and drinking all day with a bit of shopping added. We never left the strip so I didn't see much of Vegas but this time I'd like to see as much as possible. The tricky thing is that my wife is a beach holiday type of person and would be happy lying around a pool all day, every day.

Because of this she's never had any great desire to go to Vegas but since I've been itching to go back since I returned and it's my 30th, she suggested we book. What would be the best things to do so that she won't miss the pool? The only thing that she has said is on her 'to do' list is visit The Venetian.

We will likely have somewhere between $300-500 budget per day which will have to cover food, drinks, gambling etc. and I currently have 85000 LP on MyVegas to use which will increase before we travel. We aren't really clubbing people but we do like sitting in a bar having a couple and just relaxing.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

If you're asking if they're going to upgrade you based on your travel agent putting it in, then the answer is most likely no. I'm sorry. But you asking when you get there...worth a shot. If you're just looking for an ugrade from what you've got to a grand king, your chances are pretty good. You're not there at a busy time.

Things to do with your wife that are 'vegas'...hire a limo for an hour and drive the strip. Do it at night.

You're talking August, so don't plan on walking a lot outside.

And I'm going to give you this one despite the fact that it's going to offend some people...but I think it's really important to know, because it nearly ruined one of my vacations. You're like me and you've been married awhile. Sitting at the MGM pool on one of our first trips, my wife was very self conscious, because there were a lot of very young women dressed in not very much. It kind of depressed her, and it wasn't much fun after that. And I'm not the type with a wandering eye at all. So just be prepared for that.

Hit tickets for tonight and pick a show.

Try some food that you wouldn't try at home.

She's already mentioned the 'Skinny Minnies' as she calls them so she'll probably be expecting what it'll be like and I think she'll be OK. Thanks for the tips - think the limo ride will be a definite.
