I was staying at the Cal a few weeks ago and while waiting at the crosswalk I glanced up at the tower at Binions and noticed that it looked like some of the rooms were occupied because some of them had the curtains open while others were just half open. I then realized that the hotel had been closed for years and that there was no a/c or heat in the tower. Upon closer inspection I could see the curtains were falling off the rods in the rooms. I can only imagine what those rooms look like now.

I saw (and thought) pretty much the same thing looking at the Las Vegas Club hotel tower a cpl of months ago. Some of the blinds were open and some weren't....

I have seen these things myself and wondered whats going on.

Do you suppose there are people in those rooms. Perhaps we have stumbled onto some secret govt housing plan!!

IMO, I'm sure they are not using air conditioning in any of the hallways and for sure nothing in the rooms and kind of heat build up can do strange things. I'm not saying open and close blinds, but possibly loosen screws that hold the blinds and they fall.

Very similar to what they did before. The asbestos needs to be pulled anyhow so any damage done, which is less than you may think in temperature extremes really doesn't matter. Homes and campers are exposed to temp swings with no damage. I don't think there's a master plan.... Some curtains were drawn, others left open.

I was thinking about the empty rooms during my stay at the Nugget, looking across I noticed the curtains. I didn't think anything of it other than how CREEPY those rooms must be. Can you imagine going up to one now? They were pretty much creepy when the hotel was open, I can't imagine now. They need to do something with them, hopefully renovate them, although I can't see this happening anytime soon.

How depressing. I have such fond memories of staying there in the early 90's when Jack was in charge...then watched the demise when Becky took control. The rooms were never anything fancy.....but the casino was the best with the single deck blackjack, good customer service, and everyone knew your name.

Spoke with a security guard about the hotel and he said he gets creeped out going up there. the place definitely has some weird ghostly things going on on some of the floors. Heard the same thing once when eating at the ranch steakhouse from one of the hosts talking with another table of patrons. We were able to stop the elevator at one of the floors and look out but we didn't venture off. The hallway did give me the hee bee geebees though.

Anybody know the timeline on those towers? I know Binion's didn't have their own rooms until they bought the Mint. But, trying to get an idea of how old those towers are. This pic here, the tower doesn't look that old. But, I could be fooled by the "updated" windows. I did some googling and checked the usual site I would check (Vegas today and tomorrow)

Wasn't it Flusher who shared a video of those rooms some time ago?
I have a vague memory of that.

Why would they even allow elevators to stop on those floors?? Just asking for bad things to happen..

Gosh... great point! I used to work in building where the a/c was cut off on the weekends and plaques would fall off the wall, etc. It got HOT in there and that's up north.

Selling ghost tours/amateur paranormal tours might be a way for these properties to make money.

Maybe they pose the curtains a certain way to make it look like it's occupied? I don't know. Definitely creepy.

We went to the steakhouse a while back and the elevator randomly stopped on a floor. We stepped out and walked down the hallway and looked into a couple rooms. Definitely creepy, towels, curtains, etc. scattered all over. I told the gf that I've seen horror movies start like this so we got back to the elevator and of course that was about a five minute wait. Figured with my luck it wasn't going to stop on our floor again.
