There hired a nightclub guy to come up with a new concept for the place. The name and other branding elements will probably emerge from that.

And another one bites the dust. The only things we can be certain of are the new name will suck, the prices will go up, and the service will go down.

What a bummer. We are supposed to be staying there in January, I may start looking around for something else. I don't want to be in the middle of construction.

Any other suggestions in the same price range?

Having a south facing room at Flamingo might not be a good thing any more I would imagine with the increase in noise.

I am not overly nostalgic and I haven't been upset over the implosion of anything except The Stardust (How's Echelon and the idea to blow up the old girl looking now Boyd?). However, The Barbary Coast (I will not call it Bill's) should be left well enough alone!

It's old school cool and the fact that there is nothing to do there but gamble is a good thing!

    barbary bills.

I dont like the sound of this one bit.

This is what happens when non casino people buy casinos.

They just see dirty carpet and they think that everyone would rather have it be a bed and breakfast or some stupid thing like that.

Look what they did to slots a fun.

they place had coin in, dirty carpet, footlong dogs and a craps table on the sidewalk or as close as it could be.

Loved it, had a great time and looked the other way when the toliet wasnt as clean as it was at the bellagio.

Changed the carpet, took out the coin slots and tables.

now its a ghost town. still cheap beer but even that cant brong backl the fun or the profits.

If its making money, leave it alone.

everyone here who works for a big company knows whats up here. some a hole in maketing or back in new york got a bright idea and the board, who can afford to stay at fancy places because its on their account, thought it was great.

super location, why not cash in on all the foot traffic.

of course they dont realize that its got alot of foot traffic because if what it is warts and all.

There's the rub in your whole rant. Who's to say it was making money?

I get why players love these places. Heck, I loved getting free beer while playing $1 blackjack at Sahara. But the better the deal is for us, the worse it is for them.

But just because its busy doesn't mean its making tons of money. The cheaper the gambling, the closer you get to the line where operating costs are higher than the revenues you bring in.

And when you do that with a very pricey hunk of real estate, you're talking about a huge opportunity cost.

The specific plans they make might backfire or fail, but they aren't redoing these places just for the sake of redoing them. So to me it falls under the heading of "when you own a casino, you can run it however you want".

To be fair, the guy they "hired" is Victor Drai, who's been there since long before Caesars even owned the place.
