The only thing left even close for the average Joe on the strip is Casino Royale. Bill's interior was quite beautiful, with the wood, stained glass and light fixtures evoking the Barbary Coast era. I'm sure everything will be replaced with chrome, earth tones, tile and the same generic looks as every other new place in town.

Looks like I'll be spending more time at Ellis Island and downtown after all.

We played there late last night and both me and my wife won a little. It was my first time in the casino but my wife had been there. We had a great time. It will be missed.

I used to stay at the Flamingo alot when I first started going to Vegas. I always headed into Bills very early into the trip. Low limits, good selection of slots and cheep beer if you couldnt find a waitress. Sad times on the strip, one of the main reasons we stay downtown now as well, doubt I will stay a full trip on the strip ever again.

This is sad. Guess I will have to start going downtown more now.

I feel so out of the loop, but what are they doing to Bills? Will it reopen as part of something bigger, or get gutted and turned into something new?

Supposed to be a "Boutique Hotel" when it reopens.

I am in mourning...O'Sheas, Bill's...I love the older low roller joints. Victorian was our favorite cafe on the strip. Won't be any reason to hit the strip if this keeps up. Newer in my opinion is NOT better. Just means higher priced everything, new slots ( I like old reels). The place was always busy, CET just ruins everything. The dropping of their credit card kills us, changing the TR system for tiers hurts me. Glad I am going with an Mlife property this year...I predict the Linq will not bring in the revenue that they hope for, considering the cost. Guess they learned nothing from MGM losing so much money with City Center.

I am sad too. My Mom and I usually stay at the Flamingo but Bill's was where we spent most of our time. Our first morning tradition was to get up to get to the Victoria Room for the early bird. We were amused and entertained many times by folks who were still up from the night before. Got my first Royal Flush at Bill's. Love the $2.00 Margaritas, drinking my coffee at the moment from my Bill's mug..........guess we will have to wait and see, but I am really sad.........

I'm another one sad about this. My husband and I have had late night breakfast in the Victorian Room on just about every one of our Vegas trips. Barbary Coast/Bill's was a "must visit" place for us on every trip. We're gonna miss it - going back to Vegas in 2 weeks and it's going to be such a bummer to see it closed. I felt the same way about O'Shea's.

    "lifestyle"

that word is often used to refer to swingers, and I don't mean dancing.

Since there are a couple swinger friendly properties in vegas maybe they are bringing one to the strip?

I'm sad too. I keep telling myself that this night/day/pool club thing is just a phase and this too shall pass and good bargains will always have a place in Vegas.

I like the low roller joints also and atmosphere...but downtown is only good for 1 day (for me). After that...you've seen everything. How do you downtowners keep entertained?

Same thing here. Remember back in the 90's they did that whole family-friendly thing, complete with theme parks and stuff. That was a total flop. Casinos weren't making any money. I'm thinking (rather, hoping) that this is the opposite end of the spectrum and eventually Vegas will go back to how it used to be, with good deals on room, food, drinks, and table games.
All this high-end nightclub/dayclub stuff, does that really bring in a lot of money? Sure these folks will drop 1k at a club on any given evening, but will the casinos make money? I don't know. I remember walking through Barbary Coast / Bill's, Flamingo, Imperial Palace and Harrah's and those casinos were quite crowded. Then I'd walk through Ceasars, Mirage, Bellagio and Aria and those casinos would be dead.
I just don't see how all these changes are going to be better.

The problem with the demographic they're appealing to is that it is very fickle. The newest thing is boring tomorrow. And going to Vegas will quickly fall into that category for these day-clubbers. So while the big corporations are luring them today, they're alienating and chasing away the loyal long-term customers and will end up with nobody.

I myself dont go down there to "see" things, I go down there to gamble drink and mingle with good people! It gets harder and harder for me to do that on the strip with each passing visit!
