Sometimes I do look at the stuff and can remember back to the wins that bought them... happened last month when I was playing the XBox and my wife came in and said something and it had me remember back to the win that bought it plus the TV, TV stand, headphones, etc: it was 1:30AM in the morning and I was playing Choy Sun Doa slot machine and on a single spin for $1.35 I had a $1,641 win. Wife actually made me go out and buy the XBox and TV and stuff the next day (though I think in part she really wanted the TV as well :))

It depends on what model Daytona. There are many; black dial, white dial, meteor dial, arabic numerals, roman numerals, index markers, diamonds, platinum, white gold, gold, stainless steel, ceramic bezel, leather bracelet, etc. etc. etc.

Our biggest Vegas/Reno/Tahoe wins have all been playing video poker and have been in the $1,000-$1,500 range for Royals. We usually just end up going to nice dinners for the whole trip.

    A few exceptions have been;

#1 a $800 profit on one craps session in Tahoe which we stayed an extra night and went to a nice dinner.

#2 a $1,000+ trifecta hit playing the horses (Calder) in Reno after which we got drunk and had to stay an extra night (comped go figure) and blew about half of it chasing a $1 RF progressive.

#3 My roommate and I hit a $12,000 trifecta (Turfway) in college. We paid our rent for a year. I paid my tuition up front. He pissed the rest of his away.

#4 The only time I have spent $$$ on "stuff" was other big horse racing hits when I was home (either in California or Ohio). TV's, surround sound system, DVD player, vacations, etc...

#4A Cashed for over $8k playing the races at Keeneland (October 12th, 2002) when a horse I had been following named Riskaverse won the QEII stakes at 7/1. I had her singled in Pick 3's, the Pick 4, the trifecta ($1,777 for $1 bet) when a 43/1 shot ran 3rd and the exacta ($160) for quite a few times. The pick 3's and pick 4 totaled $4,779.

#4B Cashed over $5k playing the Breeders Cup at Arlington Park in 2002 (man it was COLD). I had the favorite in the Classic singled and cashing in the Pick 4 so I put him 2nd in the trifecta as a saver with some bombs and it came in. 43/1, 5/2, 24/1. The trifecta paid $4,233 for $1.

#4C Breeders Cup days in 2008. Hit for over $2k on Friday when Maram won the Juvenile Fillies Turf ($24) making all my Pick 3's pay very well. Cashed over $4k playing the Saturday card due to the European horses dominating. Ravens Pass ($29) winning the Classic was key as the Pick 4 paid $2,700+

There have been other big days but those really stand out

    $3600 Win at Caesars.....

I was just at Caesars last month and the night before we were scheduled to leave came up to the room and dropped about $3600 on the nightstand and fell asleep (from mostly craps and VP, but all profit).

We woke up the next morning, (scheduled to leave at 8:00pm) and made our way down to Cosmo for a nice Wicked Spoon buffet breakfast. That lead to a session of "The Game of Life", another $400 profit, and a shit load of chocolate martini's. For dessert we had lunch with a bottle of wine at Mon Ami Gabi, and, well, you know the rest (Flights back to Canada changed until 36 hours later)...

and how did I make out in that last 36 hours....donated the 4k back and $1900more right on top of it, but we had an AWESOME time and would do it again in a heartbeat!

    Cheers....

I came back home after hitting my first Royal late last year with $2,000 and put it with my wife's $4,800 win on a spin-poker machine, she'd won a month earlier and we bought a pair of really cool La-Z-Boy recliners and nice leather couch with the recliners on the sides. All power operated! Love 'em...

To give you an idea of UK sterling pricing, (as I have been looking to buy one) I am looking at around £8k for a 2011 Stainless, white face model.
This is from a swiss watch retailler with box, papers, and guarantee.

    Does that help?

Last year I had a look at one in one of the shops in Caesers, it was $37K!!
    (white gold, not stainless steel).

I couldnt justify spending that much on a watch as I already have several TAG's a Breitling and an Omega Seamaster- I wear them daily and they do get knocked around..

On impulse, the Rolex, because the Rolex store was actually by the entrance to my room at MGM. I had a huge (for me) win at the craps table.
I ended up giving the Rolex as a present because watches and me tend to mysteriously part ways (I still think they jump off my wrist and run away).

Well, the rare times I've won in Vegas, I've simply bought a return ticket much sooner, than otherwise.

When I was in college, I did try and do the big purchase after win with poker winnings from the boys. I thought it would train me to win by rewarding myself. The best thing I bought was a white sports coat after winning a big pot at two card guts. Something about the frivolity of spending several someone else's weekly minimum wage pay was pleasing, and even more so, rubbing it in.

These days, I dress like a bum, and would feel odd waving a several thousand dollar watch in people's faces. I can see the anology to the white sports coat, but I think I'm past those days.

An interesting topic, though. I hadn't really considered what I'd do if I won medium big. Think I'll buy gold coins, and put 'em in a safe deposit box with a note on how they were won for my kid, after I kick the bucket.

Hope she isn't holding her breath.

Yes that is great info. But close to 14k in US dollars is a lot for a 2011 model IMHO. It seems like we are looking for the same watch but different dial colors. I hope aftermath can help us.

    Like this one?

If you purchase through a private seller, a used one will run you anywhere between $9000 - $11k depending on condition and serial number (G, V, Z, Random)

My watch guy is selling the one pictured above for $11,885, random serial number (2012-2014), brand new, box and papers.

Let me know if you're interested, I'll hook you up with him.

Thats a nice looking watch but sweet baby jesus, 12 grand?! I have a $400 citizen watch that my exwife told me to buy cause it was a good deal and I thought that was about $300 too much for a watch. Id say I only remember to wear it one or two days a week.

As for a big win. I hit a straight flush on Let It Ride a couple of years ago at a tribal casino in Arizona for a few thousand bucks. I got a room nice suite at the hotel that night for my wife and bought the laptop that I'm typing on now. I only spent about $900 on this laptop after searching for a good deal on slickdeals.net. The rest I just stuck in the bank for the next casino trip.

That Rolex Daytona is a stunner, I'm surprised it's not more. I remember looking at the solid gold ones 10+ years ago when they were $25k or so, I would imagine they are much higher today with the price of gold rising.

Back in the early 80's we were eating a meal at the Flamingo. A friend of mine says that one day he wanted to win enough to be able to buy a $25 shirt for $50 at one of the casino shops.

Any gambling winnings not rolled over in to future trip funds would be invested. The most I've ever won net was $1500 so that hasn't happened yet.

    :(

I have very few material wants at the moment so that kind of thing isn't a big motivator. Being able to have a portfolio that makes more money than I do turns me on. :D

It seems counterintuitive that I would gamble but my savings rate is about 5x my gambling budget so it's not killing my long term financial goals.
