I am platinum at mLife - largely due to 3 - 4 trips per year from 2011 - 2013. Last year my wife and I were only able to get to Vegas in December for a 5 night trip - after the reset of all credits. We made platinum again with 250K in Tier Credits exclusively on multi-lineVP (basically 25K coin in.) This was enough to get us a host at Bellagio for the first time (my only other MGM host is at Aria - where we normally stay).

So we received a spring offer with a ridiculously generous 1.2K in freeplay and I'm going next month to Aria to take advantage of it. So this leads me to a couple of questions.

    1. I never noticed (as my freeplay offers in the past were between $100 -$300) - does freeplay earn Tier Credits and Express Comps at mLife?
    2. What is this boards opinion on the best way to use the Freeplay, go to a high-dollar slot or just play my VP as normal.

    Thanks in advance!

Free play itself doesn't generate any points or express comps but the money you get out of it will if you cycle it back through. Your best return will be some flavor of VP. $1 single line would give you about 225 hands. It kind of depends if you want to swing for the fences and play $5 DDB or slow roll it with multi line quarters on JOB.

Thanks for that BayouBengal. Right now I alternate between 0.50 and$1 multiline so that might mean $2 or $5 multi line. That freeplay won't take long to recycle that way. :)

the smart rule is just add it to your BR.

the fun rule is to swing for the fences.

If I'm trying to get as much cash as possible out of my freeplay, I usually stick with 100 line VP. Playing nickel and max betting, that's $25 per hand. And even on bad hands, you typically get half of your money back.

Otherwise, I will try and jump up to single line $1 or $5 VP (I'm usually a .25 or .50 player) to try and hit it big.

It gives me a chuckle to see "swing for the fences" and then immediately talk VP.

To me, "swing for the fences" would be $5 or $10 (or maybe $25) slot machine, Double Diamond or .50 or $1 Wolf's Run ($20/40 a Pull)

Play it through once, then take the cash an play your "normal" game.

If VP is your normal game, then by all means VP.

Freeplay is the same as cash as far as what to play.
    It plays just the same.
The odds of winning are the same.
The odds of loss are the same.
The enjoyment of what you select is the same.

The only difference that I can see is that it does not generate points/credits in Mlife, etc.

Unfortunately, to get 250k Tier Credits, it was $250k coin-in...not $25k ($25k would only get you Pearl)

I like using it on the higher limit Top Dollar machines. Usually a 2-credit max game, those seem to payout better for me.

If I don't win on it using my freeplay I chase it with my own cash until I eventually get that bonus. That is called strategy.

Just to clarify...this $1200 FP offer is for Bellagio (from your new host) or Aria?

You can only use the FP at the casino it is awarded from

The offer was from mLife corporate - valid at all their properties. This time out I booked with my host at Aria - my last trip was at Bellagio and just listed to provide some context. Sorry for any confusion that might have caused.

Probably the best advice. And it was short and sweet.

$1,200 is a lot. Play half normally and take a shot with half.

I like Shifters advice. When I have large amounts like that, it's either padding the bankroll or high limit room. Got some good hits off of pinball and top dollar slots doing that.

I treat my freeplay separately from my bankroll and have some fun in the high limit room. Last year turned my $1000 freeplay into $4000 cash - although that was an exception! Usually doesn't work out so well.
