Heading to Bally's next week for 4 days and have never played much video poker before. Play mostly Poker and Blackjack. My wife is interested in playing video poker and wondering what are the best quarter machines and where located in the casino. She is not a big gambler and will play around $50 each session. Thanks in advance.

The VP in Bally's is so so. There VP area is right next to KENO at the front of the Casino.

Yes, all the VP is in the front of the casino, near the Keno area and the Casino bar. As indicated on vpfree2.com, at the 25c level there is 7/5 bonus poker available, which pays 98%. Those same machines will have 7/5 jacks or better, which pays 96.15%, so beware!

Machines set like this amuse the hell out of me. Mirage's sportsbook's bartops are the same way between these two games, 25/6/5 JoB (95% terribly pathetic) and 30/6/5 Bonus (96.18% pathetic, but it's the best game they got). Free money if you play Bonus Poker! :evillaugh

Also CET seems to often make Bonus Poker one of their best quarter games available casino wide. Although for bartops, usually the best game is 7/5 Triple Bonus Plus (97.67%).

Also some of the 7/5 Bonus Machines are progressive, so that will help the overall return.

I'm also a quarter VP player and I was at Bally's a couple weeks ago (actually stayed there for part of my trip), but I was very disappointed in their VP offerings.

9/6 (full pay) JoB - not offered. Hard to find this anywhere on the Strip at the quarter level. Hooter's has it (though straight flush is 239 instead of 250). NY, NY has a bank (but no points accumulate on those machines).

9/6 (full pay) Bonus Poker Deluxe - not offered at the quarter level.

Those are my two favorite games.

Sometimes I settle for 8/5 Bonus Poker, but this isn't available at Bally's, either, at the quarter level. In fact, the only CET property that I could find that has it (playable within my bankroll) is The Rio, and that's at the $1 level.

I saw on vpfree2.com (excellent site, by the way) that 9/5 JoB was available at Planet Hollywood at the $1 level, but I couldn't find it there.

So, what did I play? Well, no VP at Bally's!

    Here are three options:

    - 7/5 BP with progressive is available at Paris. Paris is connected to Bally's, so you don't even have to go outside. Depending on the progressive amount, this might be a good choice.

    - Behind Bally's, a 10 minute walk, is Ellis Island. They have 9/6 full pay JoB and good promotions and cheaper food. So, get off the Strip to find the better VP!

    - If you want to trek up the strip, next to Harrah's is CASINO ROYALE, and they do have 8/5 BP at the quarter level.

Hope this helps. I usually don't play DB or DDB or Deuces, so I can't comment on those games.

I know you are looking for JoB or BP but to add to the Casino Royale recommendation, I know they have 9/6 DDB at their bar when I was last there in December 2012.

I will say that the bartenders at Sully's bar at Bally's are really great so I could forgive the 8/5 DDB pay tables there.
