I'm wondering what people think is the best vintage downtown hotel (in Vegas obviously).

Tell us why you think it's vintage and why you think it's the best.

Or a second question: If you could only stay 1 night in 1 downtown hotel, which hotel/which room and why?

    Thanks

Tough one. My favorites were always the 'Shoe and LVC but not anymore. I like GG (although I wish the deli was still in the back). Oldest place in town and still kickin'.

I would say the El Cortez. I stayed there last year and enjoyed it. I stayed in a tower king room and found it very roomy and comfy. Their wifi signal was decent also.

I agree with El Cortez. I take the word "vintage" to mean pretty much as it "was", without significant upgrades and/or improvements, but still adequately maintained (which drops out the Las Vegas Club) and I think the El Co fits that bill the best.

One room... downtown... I'll take a suite in the Rush Tower at Golden Nugget all day long! Though I hear great things about some of the suites at the Golden Gate... I just haven't seen them.

Another vote for El Cortez. It was rehabbed without taking the old school charm out of it.
