So me and my buddy are going to Vegas in late August for a two-three day birthday trip. We are not into clubs or partying, mostly pool and gambling and drinking. I was thinking we'd do something nice for a birthday dinner and what not...Obviously it's two dudes and we don't want something like top of the eiffel tower or a romantic bellagioo restaurant with a lake view...but what would you recommend for a nice restaurant...that two friends can go to and enjoy good food...we are open to all options although I don't eat pork but that's about it...preferably on the strip.

My friend and I went there last summer for his 40th birthday. We had dinner at Prime at the Bellagio. They ended up putting us on the patio overlooking the lake since the restaurant was slow. It was a mix of people out there - us, a few couples, a table of ladies and a large family group celebrating something (ages ranged from elderly to young teens). I thought the food was amazing. Steak was cooked perfectly.

Are you staying on the strip? I would suggest a good steak. Perfect for two buddies on a birthday. Lots to choose from. Prime, SW, Cut, Craftsteak, Tender, The Steak House at Circus Circus (really!). If you want a more boisterous atmosphere, Gordon Ramsay Steak.

If you don't mind going off strip, i think fogo de chao on flamingo might be cool for two birthday guys. Not as fancy as the other recommendations, and not on the strip, but mmm meat....

Mastro's Ocean Club at Crystals (next to Aria) or the Country Club Grille at Wynn.

If you're up for Italian, try Carbone at Aria. Caesar salad, spicy rigatoni and veal parm. Done.

I've never had a bad meal at any steakhouse in Vegas. Lots of guys having dinner there. Crafsteak was good when I went there a few years ago but just pick the restaurant you want.

A male coworker and I went to dinner at a fancier steakhouse a couple months ago and the servers there were struggling trying to figure out if we were "together". We thought it was pretty funny.

My two choices would be Gordon Ramsey Steak or Joe's Stone Crab.

I had that meal the Sunday night of memorial day and couldn't have been happier. One of the best I've eaten in quite a while. We make Carbone a stop every trip since it has opened.

Love Tender Steakhouse in the Luxor....old school looking with burgundy leather wrap around booths, exceptional service, exceptional food.

If you are going downtown, I would recommend either Andiamo or Vic and Anthony - I've had very good meals at both places and probably somewhat less expesive than comparable Strip places.

For steakhouses, you can't go wrong with Charlie Palmer Steak (Cut of the Week menu) at the Mandalay Bay, The Steakhouse at the Circus Circus, or SW Steakhouse at the Wynn.

If you're into Asian dining, I would really suggest Mizumi at the Wynn. Their teppanyaki is excellent.

If you like dry aged steak then I would add Carnevino to the suggestions. Plus the atmosphere is very masculine.

    Carnevino

+1 to this. They have dry aged 240 days. Extremely expensive, and you'd need to call well in advance. Having said this, the flavor of a steak aged that long isn't for everyone. It's priced a lot like Kobe is, except it's per inch, not per oz.
