I usually only play blackjack and video poker. On my upcoming trip to Vegaa I've decided to play craps. Anyone know of any books they would recommend on the rules of craps, learning the game, strategies and all the different ways to bet, etc? Thanks in advance!

Really no need for a book.
Check out the threads here because all you really need are the basics to get started.
When you get to Vegas take a Free Craps Lesson which is offered by many casinos.

Google Craps forums. Tons of information and tutorials dedicated to the game of craps.

Also there are free craps games on-line where you can play for free.

Some of the books I feel are helpful are:

    Commando Craps and Blackjack
    John Gollehon
    Gollehon Books
    Grand Rapids, Michigan

    Beat the Craps Table
    Marten Jensen
    Cardoza Publishing
    www.cardozabooks.com

    Gamble to Win CRAPS
    R.D. ELLISON
    Kensington Publishing Corp.
    www.Kensingtonbooks.com

The last book is an interesting read; it delves into the mindset of a professional craps player. I feel the author contradicts himself but still interesting to read about his take on gambling.

Have fun on your next trip!

Yes check out the sticky at the top of this category "Casino Gaming" entitled "Did You Want To Try Craps, But Felt Too Intimidated?"

In four parts, just read the first post of each category, which explains in detail the best approach for a Craps Newbie.

There are a thousand books, posts and Videos on Craps, and they all seem to go into more detail than is necessary for the new player.

If one will follow this explanation on how to start your craps career, you'll have a ton of fun and win a nice stack in the process.

    Good Luck!!!!

I learned the game by reading "Casino Craps for the Winner" by Avery Cardoza. Very good book. Offers all of the basics, plus some different strategies, and tips on money management.

I drew a table layout on a paper grocery bag, practiced at home with coins for chips, and knew exactly what I was doing the first time I stepped up to a real table The practice helped me to learn how to calculate the correct payouts on winners. Never felt nervous at all.

Good luck. Take the free odds!
