Husband and I will be staying at the Bellagio, and was curious if people have been able to upgrade to a fountain view room. We will be arriving/staying during the mid-week (not Fri/Sat). I don't plan to do the $20 trick, but would be willing to pay some for an upgrade. I realize some of it will depend on how booked they are, but the time we will be there looks pretty quiet as room rates are below $170/nt.

Please let me know if you have had any success getting an upgrade when you asked and if they just gave it to you or if you paid. If you paid, how much per night?

    Thanks!

We've stayed at Bellagio five times. The last time they couldn't upgrade us to fountain view (not even paying for it) because of a convention and we were there Sun-Fri. I did the $20 trick and after some checking they upgraded us to a tower suite which has direct access to the pool via its own elevator and the room was a corner room overlooking pools and mountains. I told them it was our anniversary, our 5th stay, and that we had the Cypress Pool reserved three days and gave them the name of my concierge who I booked that through. I think they called her to verify and that's when they offered it to us. I think its pretty hard to just get a $20 trick upgrade to fountain view...if I remember every time I asked it was a bit of cash to upgrade. About four years ago, we did get one fountain view upgrade due to a big billing mistake the year before when we stayed but that was offered to us through management in a letter sent to us which I thought was a nice touch. Good luck, I guess if your willing to pay you can get it.
