We are booked up for 14 nights at the Stratosphere in Jan., but a friend has just come into some money and kindly offered to pay for us to stay our final 2 nights at the Bellagio! She looked online and saw a photo of a room/ suite at the Bellagio with a bathtub right beside a window of a Strip view. We looked online and couldn't find which room or suite she meant, as there are a bewildering array of choices to choose from.
On some previous trips ( we always stay 14 nights), we have stayed for 1 week at one hotel, then moved elsewhere for the second week, but found it a real pain to re- pack and waste time changing over!
Without knowing how much approx. our friend wanted to spend, can anyone enlighten us as to which accommodation provides the bathtub by the window? Then, we could determine other options ( our friend has said it is entirely up to us if we wanted something else instead).
One thought was that we are well aware what a poor reputation the Strat has, but depending on the costs involved, it might just work out the same to stay in a small suite at the Strat for the full 14 nights for the same or lesser cost than 2 nights at a 5 star Strip hotel, which is regularly named as one of the best in the world!
    All thought, suggestions welcome!

I believe the room at Bellagio with the bathtub by the window is the Salone Suite.

14 nights in one place!!!!! We move 3 times in a 10 day trip and yes, it is a pain. However, every time we move, it seems like we are starting a new vacation because now different restaurants come in to play and its nice to sit in new areas to watch people.

Thanks, Karl, I looked it up on YouTube and you're correct. ( Are you THE Karl incidentally?)
Cheesehog, yeah I can see both points of view, in this instance, we fear if we go down the 2 nights at the Bellagio route, there might be the problem of " wishing away the rest of the holiday", desperate to get to the Bell. suite. and ruin the first 12 days! We come over from Scotland, so due to the jet-lag its worthwhile spending the extra time and relaxing.

To each their own... but.... the extra hassle of getting from the Strat to the strip would make me want to move. We do 6-8 day trips and do two hotels. Just to break it up and almost like another vacation.

As to the Salone Suite - it is an oversize room - it does not have a door between the bedroom and living area. One large room. Another option for a suite and very close is Vdara.

Actually, a place like Vdara for a long stay is a good deal. You have a full kitchen so you can serve up some of your own food when you do not want to go out, or can no longer afford vegas meal prices.

    Again, to each their own.

I have stayed in 3 different hotels on a 5 or 6 night trip. when you have free or low rate room offers you get used to it. for that reason, I never fully unpack when I am in Vegas.

Very generous offer from your friend!

I agree with you that changing hotels is a pain! I also stay for a longer period when I go to Vegas and always stayed at one hotel. The hassle of having to repack, check out, waiting time in between check out/-in (probably 4 hours or so?), check in and unpack is not worth it.

That said... coming trip I will go for 3 weeks and for the first time will change hotels, and not ones, but 3 times! But that's another story. And I'm certainly not looking forward to the hassle!

So, if you would ask me (and I would only have the two options you suggested), I would go for the second option. With the money you were willing to spend at the Strat anyway + the offer from your friend together, you will be able to have a nice room/suite at the Strat for two weeks. And in case you like to use your friends offer to save some money (so you can spend it otherwise on your holiday, for a nice dinner for example), you could even just stay in the room at the Strat which you already had in mind and use your friend's offer to pay for (part of) that.

There is only a but and that is if your friend will be in Vegas too and is staying at the Bellagio himself? In that case I would take the offer as your friend suggested and stay your final two nights at the Bellagio together with your friend.

And then there is also another option, which I would probably like better. If your friend is not in Vegas too and just wants to give you a nice break, then why not put the money together (the money you were willing to spend at the Strat anyway + the offer from your friend) and stay in a standard room at a more affordable hotel on a better location on the Strip? For example Flamingo, Harrah's or Bally's. If it doesn't cost you more than what you would spend at Strat without your friend's offer, then it would really increase your experience to be at the center location of the Strip, compared to staying at the Strat.

Thanks, Ladyfortuna, for your considered answer! No, our friend isn't staying in Vegas, she has never been, though might in future! I realise a lot of people would jump at the chance to stay at the Bellagio, no matter how short a stay, maybe one day, if we have similar luck on the lottery!
We paid up front for the Stratosphere, so are loathe to mess around with the booking, having found the prices for the Salone suite, we will most likely stay in a normal room at the Strat the first week, then upgrade for the second week, and this will work out less for our friend to lay out!
This year, we used the Deuce bus regularly, but from Downtown to our home hotel of Excalibur, in rush hour took an hour, so our original thinking was that as there is a Deuce stop outside the Strat, we could commute either way, to Strip or Downtown for shorter journeys. We know around the Strat there are a lot of dodgy characters, but hopefully by using buses or taxis we will remain safe enough!

I see your point, bignig and totally agree. Great idea to stay in the middle of the two areas where you spend most of your time, so you never have to travel all the way from A to Z, but always only half-way.

I hope everything works out well for you and I wish you a great holiday!

I always stay at The Strat.
    Suites are a bargain.
If you stay at Bellagio ...... do it last !
You don't wanna do it the other way around.
I just couldn't stay at one place as long as you can.

When I was young and on family trips cooking in the room was an option. Actually, no, I would rather find affordable take-out to avoid cooking and cleaning dishes/kitchen. No way in hell do I want to cook on vacation now.

Thanks everyone, I will send in a semi live Trip Report in January (17th- 31st. We aim to attempt to shake things up a little this next trip, e.g. a visit to the ranch where the lions which used to be at MGM now live, eat at Eggworks and as usual quite a few shows, we were a little wary that with our favourite show, Raiding the Rock Vault closing that we might struggle for choice but there are 2 fairly new shows which look interesting, Bronx Wanderers and Human Nature Jukebox.
We have broad musical tastes and both these shows seem to have a fair mix. Our main hobby is going to the theatre for musicals, tributes and the real singers too! Already have tickets here at home for tributes to Billy Joel, Buddy Holly, U2, Guns N'Roses and a couple if rock shows, tonight is a band playing hits of Springsteen, Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams and in Feb. a show called A- Z of rock advertised as Aerosmith to ZZ Top!
As ever, we will try to win a fortune on the slots too! Cheers!

A friend of my brother was going to Vegas for the first time. Her company was paying for three nights at Bellagio. She booked herself for two nights earlier at the Sahara. When she told my brother about her plans he simply said, "you're gonna really like Bellagio."

Many years ago, we booked the Bellagio for several nights and then moved to the Luxor for a stay of 4 nights that we won in a contest. Dh was horrified at the Luxor Pyramid room and said that he wanted to move back to the B.

We survived, but would never move down after a top level stay again.
