    My Trip Report

This TR is so mini, I should really label it as tidbits from my most recent trip. Anywho, I'm sitting in my suite at Bellagio with an hour to go before I leave, so I thought I would pass along a few items from this past weekend:

*My host confirmed that Circo is closing in April and despite rumors of Hyde needing the extra space, he says the plan right now is to replace Circo with a tapas restaurant. Apparently, Julian Serrano is doing so well at aria that they want to emulate it at Bellagio.

*Chrystals is just a wasteland. I walked through there Sunday. You would think a mall on a Sunday in December would be packed with holiday shoppers. You could hear a pin drop! No wonder MGM is trying to unload it.

*Slow weekend in vegas. Lots of cowboys in town for the rodeo convention, but Bellagio was not very busy compared to most weekends.

*Stayed in a spa tower suite. Its more recently renovated than the main tower suites, which is cool. But it is quite a hike to the casino. The hallways in this tower, though, are much shorter.

*Some big poker event was going on this weekend, so all the famous poker players were in the hotel. I met Phil Hellmuth Saturday night. I'm actually a little disappointed he didn't scream at me and call me an idiot.

    Overall, a fun trip

haha...I get the impression that most of that is an act. He knows he makes more cash if he plays up to the cameras. In real life, I have heard he's an alright guy.

And yeah, the "WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic" is usually in the 1st weekend of Dec.. I should have stopped to see the chaos last year when I was actually in town since I actually "like" poker...dammit. But I did get to play next to Karina Jett that trip in a cheaper mix game. She kicked my ass until she left for a game that was 10 times more expensive to play...lol Terribly nice though.

I don't play slots so I did not pay close attention, but I did observe that there were fewer slots near the Hyde entrance, the vid poker machines they had there last spring and summer are gone, and it seems like they replaced those with one of those big electronic roulette games

This year was definitely not chaos. Just really busy in the poker area. It is interesting to watch poker players stop by the table games. They seem to like craps and play very large, but don't always know the different wagers as well as regular craps players. Leads to a lot of arguments with dealers!

The gambling went very well! I did not write about it because I thought members might be getting bored with the same old gambling stories from me.

Arrived late Friday, so really didn't gamble much that night. Did the spa Saturday morning, so I didn't really hit the tables hard until that afternoon. Spent most of this trip playing BJ in Club Prive and the HL room. On Saturday, the cards were pretty mediocre, but ended the day up a bit.

Sunday started terribly. After placing NFL bets, I sat down at the double deck game at Club Prive and started playing $500 a hand. Within half an hour I was playing $1000 a hand to catch up. Then I started chasing at $2-5k per hand! By halftime of the early NFL games, I was down almost $35k! But there was a shift change, new dealers arrived, and so did my luck. No spectacular plays with tons of splits, but I did have one $5k hand that I doubled on and won!

The good play continued throughout the day. Won a little at bac, lost a little at craps, and made more at BJ. The best part, I had my best NFL weekend of the year by far! I went 7 for 8 on my NFL bets (including a really big wager on the Chiefs -3) and the only one I missed was the under on the Pats/Browns game (and anyone who saw that game probably knows I was feeling real confident about that bet until the very end :grrr:).

Hit Caesars Palace Monday morning for a couple more hours of BJ before my plane and it also went really well. Played a seven deck game and lost $8k very quickly, but the count was heavily in my favor, so I increased my wagers and won it back real fast.

The end total, I left vegas with about $38k of the casinos' money. So between this trip and Aria last month, I have made up for all my losses at Cosmo in October. That's a good way to end the gambling year!

Also, did you place any bets on bowl games? Which ones do you like? I haven't researched any lines yet but plan to do a little before my trip in a week.

I did not. Honestly, I don't even know if those lines were out by the time I left Monday. I am terrible at betting college football, so I didn't leave any money behind on it.

But that does remind me of one other tidbit I had not mentioned: the Bellagio sportsbook got new software about a month ago. so if you're holding any old tickets to be cashed, they only have one machine that can run them (the book manager on duty didn't even know this; I had to find someone the next day to cash my total bet on Ohio State that I made back in August).

Well, I will try to keep better notes of any interesting gambling on my next trip.

As for drunken hijinks ..... I stink at that too. Although Friday was the only night I really got hammered. I stumbled back toward the spa tower at 2AM and was accosted by a hooker so tall I asked her if her day job was in the WNBA? She seemed to take it in stride. Or at least didn't punch me in the face

Do you really think anyone here gets bored of gambling stories? Especially with the crazy swings you have? That's like our crack-cocaine.

Congrats on the nice win. You've got some big cojones to take your bets from $500 to $5000 in one session!

Thanks. No real bad swings on this trip, only small ones. Still, went from approx. $35k down to a solid win. No complaints here!

    Hi

Glad you had a good trip! I was at bellagio this weekend also with my parents. Saw Doyle Brunson (pretty sure it was him) and Scotty Nguyen.

I play mostly slots and love sports betting. KC game was key for a few winning parlays I had. Had a six team parlay that came in...$10.00 bet returned $380.00...since I rarely hit these I just play them for fun and low bet amount along with the straight bets on the games but it is fun to get a winning parlay!

I saw Nguyen sitting at one of the tables near the rail as well. He was totally composed and silent while I watched for a bit. Hope that's a sign the guy has put his bad table behavior behind him

Thanks. I have already planned a trip back in mid-January with the family, return a couple weeks later for the Super Bowl, and then my annual MM trip with a bunch of friends in tow. Hopefully all the people coming on those trips won't slow me down at the tables too much!
