If you just want to sit by the fountains and have a drink or two, you pretty much have no options. Most of the places will accomodate only those who are having lunch or dinner. Makes the loss of the Fontana Bar that much sore. :(

The Hyde Bar and Lounge offers great views of the fountains. It opens at 5:00 or 5:30, and there is no cover charge before 10:00 or so. Unfortunately, it is closed from time to time for private parties.

Hyde WAS The Fontana that the OP was referring to. No generic cookie cutter ultra lounge like Hyde could ever replace it. The Fontana was a unique space that was created by Steve Wynn when he built the Bellagio and it was the last of the old school style Vegas rooms. I spent a lot of time there over the years (my friend Dian Diaz was the headlining act at The Fontana) and Vegas is not quite the same without it. It is very sorely missed indeed.

We were just there in Sept and I'd call the view from Hyde....OK. Most of the seating in there is way back inside where you really can't see the fountains well and the few couches that are up along the wall, face towards the casino so you have to sit sideways and keep your neck turned to watch.

It's really set up more to be what it is....a nightclub. I will say it is a nice spot to have a drink and at least partially see the fountains and in the early evening you can order Hors d'oeuvres.

As others have said, for fountain viewing it's not nearly as nice at the previous set up but then it's all about the revenue and I'm sure Hyde brings in a lot more $$$$ than the old Fontana VP bar, the live music room and the outside patio all put together.

I was not impressed with the views from Hyde at all. You are not open to the fountains, instead behind plexiglass.

My sentiments exactly. In fact, one of the biggest complaints that staff gets is the closure of the Fontana Bar.

The views from Hyde are good. Maybe not as good as Fontana, but whatever. It's still a great place to grab a drink and relax and watch the fountains.

Fontana was an awesome spot. A must-stop ... loved the lounge act.

My biggest problem with Hyde (beyond the fact that it's not Fontana) is that even though the views of the fountain are pretty good from up by the bar, they're not consistent about syncing up the music, especially as it gets closer to the 10pm nightclub changeover. The fountain show loses a bit when "Whoomp, There It Is!" is playing in the background.

Admittedly, when it was The Fontana and a band was playing, the fountain music would be overwhelmed every time the patio door opened.

I loved Fontana, and I'll miss it. Sitting on the patio, looking out over the water and the Strip... Great view point. The bartenders at Fontana introduced me to Luxardo Maraschino back in the day.

you can step out where the tables are outside, a windy night you get pretty wet. Great view, even from the bar.

Whoever programs the music for the Bellagio Fountains is not exactly swift. More often than not, I will hear Celine Dion blaring out from the fountains, which has always mystified me.

Now, there is nothing wrong with Celine - EXCEPT for the fact that she is the headliner for the Bellagio's competition right next door!! It is like Planet Hollywood taking a big Mlife Ad out for free and splashing it all over the moving display on the front of the resort. Not a very savvy business move in my opinion.

    To each their own opinion.

I think the programing department does a great job (marketing be damned)

As to watching fountain, diner at Olives on the patio is a great choice. With such prime real estate, they are not gonna give away seats for the cost of two drinks.

    Sorry.
