    My Trip Report

Due to the weather today (rain, rain, and more rain!) as well as the fact that I have done all my work today, I think it is time to finally put together some kind of trip report!.

    Flights:

Flying out of Huntsville, American Airlines flight delayed 4.5 hours due to mechanical issue. Was immediately on the telephone with customer support rather than waiting for the line to move. After being offered either a flight the following day or a flight that would get us in to Vegas at about midnight that night, I refused and held my ground that surely there is more than one flight from DFW to Las Vegas on a Friday afternoon. After being on hold for what seemed like an eternity, the agent came back and said that she’d rebooked us on the early afternoon flight and that we would only end up being about 4 hours later than we’d originally planned. The nice agent at the desk (when we finally made it there…TWO hours later!) found us two seats together as the wench on the phone had put us in middle seats far apart from each other.

Flight home was completely uneventful. Both flights were on-time but 100% packed.

    Hotel:

We stayed at the Bellagio since we wanted to try a new hotel and after booking them on an email deal, I was sent another email offering me three complimentary nights. I immediately called casino marketing and she said that the offer was the same but that we’d been “upgraded†and she put the comp in for me.

We were in room 20-0011 which overlooked the pool/freeway. Beautiful room…and we’d have had an awesome view of the fountains if we’d been across the hall! Plenty of closet space since there is room on either side of the armoire. The safe was the average size…we could fit our camera in it but only if we took it out of the case.

Good housekeeping (we tipped each day) and turndown service was a nice thing to return to after walking around for hours!

    Gaming:

I’m still a table weenie so I stuck to slots…and they sucked me dry! At least my husband kept winning enough to let us keep playing! We did come home with some of our bankroll but it wasn’t like last trip when he’d won the entire bankroll back the morning we were leaving! :Þ Had fun playing the Goldfish as well as the Star Trek games.

    Food:

Did the Bellagio Sunday Brunch…and really, a buffet is so lost on me now that I can’t eat much! It was good, don’t get me wrong…but totally not worth the price for me to go. We also ate at the Café our first night there as a late dinner, as we’d had a late lunch at DFW and just weren’t that hungry.

For Valentine’s Day we did the tasting menu at Table 10 at the Venetian. It started with an appetizer of raw oysters topped with caviar as well as some shrimp cocktail. There was steak topped with escargot, and the dessert was a cheesecake as well as some chocolate dipped strawberries. Everything was cooked/prepared/presented to perfection and we were both very pleased with our choice. I had gotten a little worried after reading quite a few mediocre reviews on yelp but I think we did quite well with the tasting menu.

For breakfast on Saturday we ate at the food court at NYNY…we’d walked around so much that we were hungry (hadn’t had breakfast beyond a latte) and had some pizza, as it was almost 11am and, well, the pizza place was open :)

Dinner on our last night was at Yellowtail and it was nothing short of amazing. The cocktails are pricey but delicious and the food was not only tasty but pretty. We had a hot crab appetizer and then shared some California rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and one other that I can’t remember…but I’m sure it was tame as my husband isn’t the biggest sushi fan. I would go eat there again!

Fairly boring trip this time, I'm afraid...but it was very nice being in Vegas for Valentine's Day with my sweetie of 23 years :) Oh...and I will never, ever ever ever ever think that it is a good idea to "just walk" over to the Venetian in 1.5" heels. Beyond the fact that I am the original Docs or tennis shoes girl, the sidewalk is SLICK in heels even without rain and only the very firm grip on me by my husband kept me from eating sidewalk more than once! And I had blisters on both feet by the time we made it back to the hotel (took a cab, and after sitting on the strip not moving in front of the fountains, the driver said we could just pay and get out...which worked out great as the show was just starting!) and I ended up being one of those women you see walking through the casino with my shoes in my hand :)

Now for New Years Eve to get here...

Thanks for the trip report. Do you remember how much the tasting menu at Table 10 was per person? And also was it was just a Valentine's night thing or do you know if it's a permanent offer?

It was $95 for two people, which for a tasting menu is excellent. It also, sadly, was a one time deal only for Valentine's Day. There was no wine paring, but that was OK with us as we were drinking bourbon to make me forget how much my feet hurt :)

Nice report. Yeah, heals may look good but they're definetly not made for walking the strip.

Ahh thanks! That is a good price for a restaurant of that caliber.

Very welcome! We might have to plan for drinks on the 30th or 31st (but early...we'll most likely be holed up in our suite if we get a great view!)

I'm just counting down the hours until I'm under 300 days now! ;)

Have a wonderful time! The hotel is beautiful and you should walk through the conservatory both in the daytime and at night (that is how you get to the cafe) to see how beautiful it is!

I would love to go back this summer...maybe I can swing a quick trip even if it is on my own!
