upon arriving at hotel...I would like my bags carried to my room, and upon heading back to the airport I would like them carried to my taxi...Do I call the front desk and request the Bellhop to come to my room when I am ready...or do I make arrangements the night before at the front desk to have one sent up at a certain time? Never done this before as the few times I was there my cheap ass husband carried the bags.

Just call the bell desk when you want someone to collect the bags from your room. The bell desk should have its own dial button on the telephone.

Give them a little notice if possible, especially if you are checking out at a busy time. Typical responses are "we'll be right up", or "we'll be around 30 minutes".

A typical tip would be around $2 a bag. We tip $5 for 2 cases and a laptop bag.

On arriving, the normal is for them to take your bags. I always have to fight them off. We are totally wheeled bags and do our own.

Well then... I appreciate the valet guys in Las Vegas and tip them $5 to take care of the car and $5 to take my one bag. Mine also has wheels and I'm perfectly capable of pulling it myself as well. I guess I sympatize a bit with them for standing outside in often very high heat and they always seem so dog gone friendly when I pull-up. To me it's part of the "Vegas experience"...

Thanks a bunch!! I really dont need to put my back out dragging my luggage around even tho its on wheels, and trying to deal with my carry on bag also...I will be happy to pay someone to do it for me...Im at that age now that I should be able to enjoy some of the finer things.

Ouch! That's a little harsh, I would call him your non-lazy husband.

Hahaha, this thread totally cracks me up.

"my cheap ass husband carried the bags. "

'"ouch! That's a little harsh, I would call him your non-lazy husband."

Seriously, I almost spit out my coffee. Different strokes I guess. I never use bell hops, unless I am storing my bags for a late flight or early check in, and then I never have them get it from the room or bring it to the room. Cheap? Nah. We just do small roller type bags so it's no biggie. But the main reason is that I hate waiting for the guys to come, especially when I just arrive. I want to check in, get to my room, unpack as fast as possible and get the party started. But I know alot of people don't want to schlep their stuff, and take their time to unpack and rest in their room.

I just try to spend the least amount of time in the room as possible. Sometimes though hubbie makes me crazy. I am starting to think he does it on purpose. He'll take his sweet old time unpacking, plug in all his electronics, check his work emails, get the phone chargers ready, get the cash, count it (WHAT, has it changed since it went in your pocket? LOL), put it in the safe, use the restroom, maybe lie on the bed because he is so exhausted from being in a plane for 3.5 hours, etc. Meanwhile, I am standing there fidgeting and rolling my eyes, because it has taken me 3.5 minutes to do everything I need to do. I have learned not to say a word though cuz that will slow him down even more. It would be hysterical if it wasn't so irritating. But I forgive him once we are in the elevator going to the casino, lol.

If you smothered him with a pillow, a jury of your peers would never convict you.

Seriously, though, my wife is the same way. Several trips ago we agreed that I was simply going to leave the room without her, and she could come down when she's ready. This past trip that morphed all the way into me gambling for four hours while she went to the gym.

Maybe he wanted to save some extra money to buy you something special.
