I agree it's BS to order a pint and get 12-14 ounces. I hate when that happens.

This is a pet peeve of mine as well, most places pour a 14 oz "pint" in my area and an inch of head, so it becomes a 12 oz beer. Another peeve is to order a craft brew and have it served as a 10 oz pour. Another peeve is to see a list of beer specials, assuming its a draft, order one, and it comes out in a bottle. I would love to see this law passed.

yeah but some beers should have a head. I mean you can't have a proper pint of tetleys without a head....

Very true mikenhe, can you remember the old glasses with the line on them that had space for a head on the beer? I still have a couple of those at home.

Some beers (and their appropriate glasses) are smaller, and I'm ok with that - BUT - it should be noted on the menu or blackboard. The good beer places I frequent always list the size when it's not a standard pint:peace:

Mainly, I want to be able to judge what I'm getting when I order and make up my own mind. Sell whatever you want - but let me know what I'm ordering ahead of time....

    Absolutely.

And don't forget: "Leave the pint on the bar for a moment. The bartender might top it off once it settles."

To be fair, that second thing has never happened to me in the US.

I had a couple of those too. and some proper pint mug. sadly after 12 years in the usa they have all met their end. I have one new Liverpool mug - to be christened when I move into my new house and get the bar built..

I'll have to find me some more as I love the proper pint size ones..
