Hello everyone! My husband has surprised me with a trip to Vegas as my 30th birthday present. This will be the first time either of us have been. He pretty much booked our flights and hotel and told me to plan what we were going to do while we are there. Honestly, I am overwhelmed...there is so many choices! This is my thoughts/ideas right now and they may change. Please tell me what you think, and please feel free to make suggestions. (BTW, we are spending one night at the Venetian, and we have a timeshare at the Hilton Grand for the other 3 nights. We are in the process of selling our home and buying another, so we are not trying to spend loads of money.)

    Sunday: Arrival

Monday: Sleep in, enjoy the Venetian, walk around the strip all day, ride the Gondolas, etc. Dinner at Wicked Spoon (they don’t take reservations.)

Tuesday: Breakfast/brunch at Serendipity. Dinner at Planet Hollywood and Vegas! The Show at 7:00 (free dinner and VIP show tickets from our timeshare.)

Wednesday: Not sure about day plans yet. Depends on how much we saw Monday. If we saw a lot of the strip, possibly rent car to the dam??? Dinner at Mon Ami Gabi @ 7:00 pm and see Cirque du Soleil “O” @ 10:00 pm.

    Thursday: Departure

I guess I should have told more about myself before jumping right into our plans! Oops, got a little excited!

I am from Birmingham, AL. Lived here all of my life except for the 4 years I lived in Cleveland, TN for college. I am a sixth grade math teacher and have two daughters, ages 4 and 1 (will be 2 in a month!) My husband is also from Birmingham and he is an electrical engineer.

We are super excited about our first big trip away together since having our two girls...of course, I have a little mommy guilt too.

Hi there! I'm from Alabama too! Cullman County...just up the road from you. I am going to Vegas for the first time in June with my best friend who has never been either. Nice to meet you!

If you want to go to the dam and you get up early, you can do a bus tour that takes you there and back instead of renting a car. I haven't done it in awhile, but when I did it picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel, and it was under $100 for both of us.

I'd do the Wynn Buffet over Wicked Spoon, given your location. Wynn is top 3 by pretty much anyone's rating system, and you're in walking distance from Venetian.

Since you're going to be at PH one night anyway, you need to walk through the casino at MGM, and while you're there, take one spin for $3 on the Lion's Share progressive slot machine (grand prize, 2.3 million). I just think every first timer should see MGM, because it's the biggest casino, and it's right there next door to PH.

And also while you're there, stop in and buy your 4 year old a gift at the M&M store (also right next door to PH)

Welcome aboard Nicole and how exciting for you!! You can find plenty of info here on the board. As far as planning, I don't usually plan much because I've learned that I don't make it to half the things I want to. It's easy to get distracted and lose track of time in Vegas. Whatever you choose to do I'm certain you will have a great time. Enjoy your alone time and Vegas.

Thanks for the suggestions. Dinner at Wicked Spoon is up in the air for us. We really aren't big buffet people, but my best friend highly recommended it to us.

Whatever you do DON'T OVER PLAN! It is ok to setup a dinner or show here and there but if your plan is too rigid you will miss the biggest joy of Vegas... the fun of being a free spirit for a few days in a magical place. Have fun in Mecca!
