I may be going to a conference in January in Vegas. Planet Hollywood is the host hotel, but Bally's is next door. The most expensive night at Bally is $90.00 before tax (including resort fee in price) versus Planet Hollywood is $109.00 (Convention claims there is no resort fee in their contract). What is the better value? First time in Vegas and I haven't heard much about either. 35 year old guy who likes a fairly quiet hotel in a conference. Note: I am price sensitive.

Vdara for quiet and good wifi. About a 10 min walk to Pho.

Bally's would probably be quieter, especially the north tower. Have never stayed at PH but I'm not a fan of the casino, too loud, cocktail service was horrible for me & I never had any luck there.
For the price, I would suggest Bally's.
Make sure you visit the sandwich shop at PH though.

I guess I'd rather stay at Bally's vs PHo, but it's a close call. Probably should let price be the deciding factor.

In either case, I would not put my bankroll in play at either place- find better offerings at Bellagio across the street.

If you're going to a conference stay at the conference hotel. It is so nice to have a room nearby to rest up, drop off the goodies you'll pick up, and enjoy the networking opportunities.

My wife and i have stayed at both and I would choose PHo over Bally's. Rooms are nicer, casino is livelier, and there are more food choices IMO!

Definitely check smartervegas if you haven't already. I found a good deal labeled "Pool Deal" for PH. Even over a holiday weekend it was super cheap!

    My pick is Bally's

I've been to both and I preferred Bally's over PHo. Bally's is a lot quieter than PHo plus you got two casinos connected to each other. Only thing Pho got better than Bally's is that the Miracle Mile shops is connected to it.

If you want a quiet hotel don't bother with PH. It was by far the loudest casino and hotel I've ever been in by a big margin. I don't know anything about the hotel at Ballys but we went to the casino for dinner and a show and the casino is pretty quiet, below average in terms of noise. The Thai restaurant SEA was good and you can see Jubilee if you're in the mood to see an old style Vegas showgirl show with a bunch of natural tits in a completely non-sexual way.

Plus Ballys is cheaper too so it fits both your criteria.

Do you get reimbursed for the hotel or no?

East Asian Cultural fan cons never get rooms reimbursed unless your helping to run it. That's why I asked the question about Bally's in the first place. Wish it was reimbursable.

Agree with a previous poster, PH is the loudest casino I've ever stayed at. I get up at weird hours and going down for coffee at 5 am and having to listen to blaring music made an easy decision to never stay there again. I've probably stayed at Ballys 20 times. We just keep coming back.

I would stay at Planet Hollywood much nicer rooms and free standing large bath tubs. You will also get a little bit of an interpretive film memorabilia display in your room.

I have stayed in both hotels many times. When the new Aladdin opened, it was a great place to stay (except that the pools do not get sun until the afternoon). But with the change to PH, the casino put their sights on the youngest party crowd. It is still a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to stay there. Bally's may not be the fanciest hotel on the strip (but they are working on improving that) but it has a lot of advantages. Great pool area for relaxing; it's attached to Paris for some of the best food choices on the strip (Mon Ami Gabi, Paris Buffett, Eiffel Tower, etc): lounges with free music, good bars etc. My choice would be Bally's!

How about the Hilton Grand resort property that's next to PH? It doesn't have a casino but it's close and quiet. Not sure about the price but I think there are deals to be had in January.

Otherwise another vote for Bally's over PH. I would also call Paris to see if they can match the Bally's rate, that would put you a bit closer to PH and Paris is a better property IMO.

Bally's is quieter and the HO is more lively. Take your choice. In my case , i only stay in comped rooms, and then venture to other properties. To me it doesn't matter. The HO is harder for me to get 5 nights comped at once, while Bally's gives me 5 nights comped all at once (Sun-Fri). I do what i always do........i'm comped at Caesars (about 3 weeks away), but will spend most of my time across the street. In Nov, i'm comped at Bally's, but won't gamble much there, i prefer other properties ( like Margaritaville, Paris, and the HO. It doesn't really matter to me if one hotel is quieter or louder, the bottom line is comped rooms. If i can get 5 straight nights comped at the HO, i'll stay there.
CET properties (Caesars, PHO, Paris, Bally's, Flamingo, Quad, Ganesvoort, Harrah's) are all my home base, that's where i spend most of my time at, and the main reason i prefer CET (besides comped rooms), is because of the mid Strip location, it's my neighborhood, Mister Rodgers would be proud.....LOL.

I googled "east asian cultural fan con Vegas" and assume you are referring to Otakon on Januar 3-5. Looks like there are some reasonable rates around town that day. Vdara looks high.

Seeing as you are price sensitive and if you don't mind walking a little farther than Bally's, you may consider the Flamingo. The rooms at the Flamingo are dirt cheap on January 2-5.

I agree with dalej42, I think there is really some value with staying at the same hotel as your convention even if it is a few dollars more per night.

I *really* like chitownjohn's suggestion of the Hilton Grand Vacations property. It is connected to PHo. Rooms are showing ~$89/nt for Jan 2-5 at the Hilton website.

Since you are a Vegas Virgin, PHo has a great location and vibe.

Even though I generally prefer Bally's to PH due to my age and preference for hotels that aren't geared to hipsters, I have to acknowledge PH as the better deal in this scenario assuming there are no resort fees. The convenience factor adds to the value. And I don't see a reason to look beyond those two unless Paris is falling into the budget.

Based on the above statement Ballys would probably be best.
