Are they ever working? Those things are down more than they're up.

    Mini trip report:

Having a good time, wish you were here.

Thought they quit repairing them to make room for the new mini-mall that goes from the strip and into the casino. Dirt, blowing sand, and heat are very unkind to moving sidewalks and outdoor escalators.

I will be there shortly, leave lots of money for me!:evillaugh

I always use the side entrance between bills and stage door.

Yeah, when I've been to Bally's during this past year I've noticed how they've been letting that West side of the resort go. But, it's understandable they've not wanted to put more money into it when they're going to rip most of it out.

They are a great mystery, stayed 4 days in April, each day a different one was down. It was like a little joke between the group.

It seems like the ones moving OUT are out of service far more than the ones moving in.

We stayed at Bally's last year and this year and each time there was at least 1 of those things broken. Not such a big deal when you're heading out to enjoy the evening but frustrating when coming back and you're either tired, drunk, or broke (or a combination of the three :evillaugh).

The escalators near Bally's are frequently broken, too. I've been to Vegas 9 times in the last 3 years and not once have those things been working the whole time.

I was told that they shut them down to save money on electricity and they do this at random throughout the day....not sure if this is true but may be plausible....?

Along the same line, the escalators in NYNY are ALWAYS broken....just another reason that I am switching home base.

We were there 2 weeks ago, and like others have said sometimes they worked, sometimes not, but there was always at least one of them down. We got to where we would take the sidewalk down below along the side of them. We enjoyed walking there with the fountains and foliage. Nice walk. I would hate to see that part destroyed to make room for shops.

I stayed there in April and they were down. I remember walking down it, hand on the rubber rail the whole way. At the end it dawned on me how nasty that thing probably is. Ick. :vomit:

Yeah, my hubby is just waiting for the day when I bite it on a LV escalator because I refuse to touch the handrails. Despite all of my efforts, I still seem to come home with a cold more often than not.

On our last trip, the moving walkways were down and the escalators were blocked off completely. You had to walk down the ramp and across the porte cochere. As it turns out, not a terrible route.

Stayed at Ballys last November, this past April and again late September and each time the first sidewalk in was down with the others fully operational. I can say we usually dont use the front entrance to move into and out of the place. We either cut through Paris or use the side Flamingo road exit and cross at Bills. I personally dont like the circus that is normally set up in front of Ballys and will walk around that spot on the strip:nono:.

I'll be staying at Ballys in 2 days and yes there always seems to be one of those moving walkways out of service. Mind you this holds true for a lot of the other escalator/moving walkways around the strip. Venetian always seems to have one out as well every time we go.
    Not really a big deal.

We stopped using them years ago. It moves about 1 MPH, too many people turn them into park and rides and it takes forever.
