    My Trip Report

    Hello All,

I have been a long time lurker of this site and enjoy everyone's reports quite a bit. I am sitting on a four hour flight from Atlanta to Sin City so I figure I would start my report and give you a run down of whats planned. I am flying out a day earlier than the rest of the group for a business meeting in the morning. Around noon the shit show will commence. Tonight I am using some Total Rewards points to crash in a Premium Fountain View room at Planet Hollywood. I plan on getting checked in and hit the tables for a couple hours. My games of choice are blackjack and craps.

The plan tomorrow after business is taken care of is to hit up the liquor store and stock up. The bachelor party consists of 10 guys and we booked 5 rooms at Treasure Island. We are all in our mid to late 20's. So far the only dinner planned is Saturday night at Smith & Wollensky. The only extracurricular activity planned at this point is a trip to the Rhino. Otherwise the weekend is a blank slate hopefully filled with great success at the tables and having the time of our life chasing after the females. I plan to try and update this every day or so depending upon my alcohol intake and severity of hangovers. Any of you know if the hotel is pager friendly?

    One Night Down

Finally got checked into Planet Hollywood around 10. Room was a Premier Fountain View Room which was decent but certainly nothing more than a standard room with a small window view of the Bellagio. Not worth the $30 extra they charge but I was using TR points so oh well. Of course I forgot my digital camera cord so pictures will have to wait. Anyway first stop after getting settled in the room is Roulette and I had to give Beejay's strategy a shot so I nickel up $100 and my numbers miss. Roulette is not my favorite game so I move on to BJ. $15 single deck table 6/5 for BJ's. I buy in for $150 just to see how my luck is going and I need to call it an early night. Well i get to play for all of 10 minutes. I win 2 hands and blow thorough $150 like its nothing. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come. Not to mention I was sitting with a bunch of tards who didn't double down on 11 with the dealer showing a 5. That kind of stuff pisses me off. So after $250 in the first 20 minutes I decide to slow it down and I run $30 through some Video Poker. Nothing good happens so I decide to call it a night. Those $125 Dos Eqis were delicious.

Wake up at 7am and order the American Breakfast (Bacons, Eggs, Potatoes, English Muffin, and OJ) from Room Service. Total with tip $30. Bacon was over cooked but everything else was pretty good. Grabbed a cab and headed over to my home away from home for the next 3 days the good old TI. Dropped my bag off and headed to my meeting. Got back to the TI around 945 and actually got an early check in. Just finished unpacking and my crew is starting to arrive. This is when things should start to get good and let's hope my luck decides to show its face.

Well like many others on here updates daily turn into hangovers and no time to get on the computer. So when we last talked my crew started to arrive. We ended up down the strip at Margaritaville for some of those huge nachos and a couple drinks. Nachos were delicious and drinks were fairly priced for Vegas.

From there we headed to O'Sheas because every good bachelor party needs $1 beers which turns into a 5 hour gambling stints. $5 blackjack is great for getting drunk and so is penny slots with unattractive cocktail waitresses who you tip big starting out. We probably went through 10 vodka drinks at the penny slots and then toward the end of her shift she started bringing over shots. So around 7 we decide to get our drink on somewhere else considering my roommate for the trip was sitting at the BJ table with his suitcase.

So myself and my roommate for the trip and another guy in our group start walking back toward TI and we were all hungry again so I say F it lets eat a good meal. So we swing into The Range at Harrah's with roommate's suitcase still in tow. They kindly stick it behind the hostess stand and we are seated in our shorts and t shirts. We ordered some waters and a dozen oysters to get the show started which were fairly good and to help survive the rest of the night. Each of us ordered the Delmonico which were excellent along with sides of mashed potatoes and their macaroni and cheese which was excellent. Bill came to $160 for 3 which Total Rewards points paid for and I thought was a deal for Vegas.

Back to the TI we went and met up with the rest of the crew who was back in the casino making their rounds. My game of choice is BJ although I dabbled in some Craps and the occasional slots. The rest of the night is pretty much a blur but ended around 430AM. My gambling budget for the trip was $500 as I am still younger and would like to keep a little savings considering the economy. At this point in the trip I am down around $300.

So we wake up around 10:30 Friday morning and get a call from the rest of the group who tried to go to Denny's for breakfast but was met with a 1 1/2 wait which led them to eat Panda Express. I was not sad to be missing MSG filled Chinese before noon. So they get back and we decide to hit up downtown and Fremont St. since most of us had no been there before. We hail a cab and $50 later we are dropped off at the Golden Nugget.

We headed toward Binion's and the guys who missed out on Panda Xpress get some grub from the 24 hour cafe. I had the Gamber's Special which consisted of Bacon, Sausage, Eggs, Hashbrowns, and Toast for $7.95. Other guys had the Burger for around $8 I believe. Everything was pretty decent. After breakfast we moved on to the blackjack tables which were 6/5 $5 minimums. Since it was just us playing between two tables we were doubling on BJ's if the dealer was showing anything 4 or higher. After a couple hours of the ups and downs and numerous vodka drinks I cashed out up about $100 and we had our mix of winners and losers from that round. We also took a group pic with the $1 million which was a nice free touch.

We swung by the Golden Nugget and walked through their casino which reminded me of some of the strip casinos and check out their pool with the shark tank. Next we hit up the Fremont and the bachelor hit the first decent sized shot payout of the trip for $400 on the big $1 slot as you walk in the door. Overall I enjoyed the trip down to Fremont and it was a good reprieve from the high $ atmosphere of the strip and worth a trip if you haven't been. We called a limo from the Golden Nugget and headed for the Wynn. It would have been nice if they sent a limo that actually had functioning air conditioning in 105 degree heat.

So we roll into the Wynn and take a walk around to see the place since most of us had never seen Steve Wynn's palace. I will have to say that place is mighty impressive and everyone you meet is extremely friendly and helpful. On our walk down to see the country club we swung into one of the stores that was advertising 75% off and a couple buddies got some darn good deals on some jeans. All you could see from the country club balcony was the 18th hole but it was a sight to see. The rate this time of year was $350 which includes rental clubs. Maybe one of those days when I have an unreal streak at the tables or hit a progressive.

So our original plan was to just take a gander at the Wynn and head back to TI to get ready for dinner. Well that greed and luxury got the best of us and we stood in line for our red Wynn players cards. When you sign up for a card you get $10 in free play plus after 25 points ($3 in = 1 point) you get to spin a electronic wheel at the Red Card desk for more free play, buffets, or shows. Well let's just say we all bit for this promotion and proceeded to the $1 Wheel of Fortune machines. And why play $1 when you can play $5 and rack up those points quicker? Well the lucky bachelor hits another $300 during this test while the rest of the group loses their cash or just breaks even.

We then we find out that if you get to 75 points you supposedly get 2 free buffets and at $40 a pop we though oh hell lets try. Well when we blow thorough some more cash and try to go cash in my buddy realizes he was mistaken and it was 150 credits. So those $150 buffet better be good. Well they did not disappoint. It was the best buffet I have ever eaten. Some of the highlights included the lamb chops which numerous people said they would have paid $40 to just eat them alone. Also included were Alaskan crab legs that were already cut in half, peeled shrimp, sushi, pizza, pasta, and everything in between. The desert bar was also to die for. I would definitely recommend the buffet and will be returning whenever I am in Vegas.

After dinner we walked back to the TI which was needed after the mass amounts of lamb and crab consumed. One of the group members who is from LA convinced the group to check out a glam 80's cover band that is popular there called Steel Panther. They were playing at Mandalay Bay so we made our way over there around 9, bought our tickets, check out the roof top club which was dead, and then headed to play some $25 BJ. I broke even after about 30 minutes of play and had to leave for the show. The show was enjoyable but I would have rather probably stayed at the table for the $20 or 25 it cost me to attend the show. After numerous $10 tall boy beers were consumed myself and two other guys proceeded to the Luxor to check out the selection of working girls. We didn't see many but did find another $25 table who had a one guy sitting at it and we easily figured out why after we each lost our $200 buy in and he continued to sit there and hit on 16 and other dumbass plays.

After leaving the Luxor we decided to meet up with a girl I know and 3 of her friends who had just got into town that night at the Bellagio. By this time it was around 430AM and Bellagio was dead and the girls were about ready to crash so we bid them well and headed to the strip. We tried to hit up Bill's for some breakfast but there was an hour wait so we proceeded down the strip toward TI. Well we are drunk and run into a group of girls with one of their friends sitting on the curb with blooding dripping out of her foot. Apparently she thought it was a good idea to take off her heels and walk down the strip at 4am. Well I broken beer bottle got the best of her. My brilliant friend decided to us this as a ice breaker and volunteered to carry her to her hotel. That went well until we weren't invited up to their room and he got to drop her off at the door of the IP. So back to the TI we made it and finally made it to bed as the Sun was starting to come up at 6am.

Saturday morning started around 1230PM. We headed to the Canter's Deli in the TI and had a pastrami sandwich was pretty good. Found a couple of chairs at the pool but I wasn't really impressed and only stayed for about an hour. At this point a couple of us decided to head back to the Wynn for a little more BJ @ $15 and walked away with around $200 in profit. From there headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and a few drinks. Had 9pm dinner reservations for the group at Smith & Wollensky across from the Monte Carlo. The service was great and I thought the food was decent. I actually preferred The Range. I had a bowl of lobster bisque, cajun filet, and we shared asparagus, lobster mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. Lobster mac and cheese and spinach were by far the favorite. The tab for 10 guys came out to slighty under $1k which I thought was a fair price.

From S & W we venture down a couple blocks and across the strip to Aria. I was impressed with architecture and while only seeing the mall and casino I would definitely make a return trip to check out the rest. I made a quick $100 profit at $25 BJ which covered dinner and then the group was ready to hit up the strip club. The rhino limo was an hour and a half wait when I called so I just asked them to put our name on the list and we would get ourselves there. Well the 2nd taxi of guys forgot to tell the taxi driver to take them to the VIP entrance so half of us got in for free while the other half which included a bunch of vegas virgins were left to the front door with a large line.

For some reason the not so bright guys in that group decide it would be smarter to leave us jump in a cab and go to the Crazy Horse. Needless to say we were pissed since they took the bachelor with them. So our group had to lead the glorious Rhino. I must say it was packed not a single seat available but there were so many beautiful girls I think I had a tear in my eye as we walked out. So while the other group of guys paid to get a cab to the Crazy Horse I simply called the CH and they sent a suburban over to pick us up. We got in the back entrance with no cover and then proceeded inside to find the bachelor with the idiot friends who had him just standing around. I immediately find him a chair and a girl and get her to work. I then find 3 of my friends who were with me at the Rhino and we spring for a 1L bottle of goose and a table for 10. $415 later the other friends don't offer to pitch in $1. Needless to say you could tell who the two groups of friends were. My group stayed for about 2 1/2 hours finishing the bottle and buying multiple dances for the bachelor. I think the bachelor had a decent time but the quality of girls was no where close to the Rhino.

After we finish the bottle we head out and grab a cab to the Wynn because its 4AM and what else is there to do in this town besides pay for Steve Wynn's jet fuel bill. So we hit up a empty $25 BJ table and each buy in for $3-400. Well we go on a terrible streak. When the dealer starts apologizing for drawing out 5,6, and 7 cards you know its getting bad. Well the drunkest of my friends has about $1500 in cash on him and drunkenly decides there is no way this losing streak can keep going so he starts throwing out $300 per hand. 5 straight losing hands later he is out $1500 in about 2 minutes. I will say I was kind of in shock for him but it did make me feel a lot better about losing $300. Well after that I went and watched the bachelor get rated at $100 a spin for an hour and he blew through around $400 more so we decided to call it a night/morning at 6am.

Since I had a 940AM flight I just decided to head back to TI take a shower, pack up, and head to the airport. Security was a breeze and I was able to sleep the majority of the 4 hour flight home. Overall it was a fun trip. I got to see a lot of new places and while my gambling luck wasn't the best I didn't exceed my gambling budget significantly. I have decided the Wynn is my new favorite casino and I would more then likely spend the additional money to stay there in the future. I think my total loses were around $750 and the bachelor said he had a blast which was the top priority for the trip so mission accomplished.

I will be returning to Vegas in a very short 10 days for my best friend's brothers 21st Bday. Their uncle is a high roller at MGM and his host has promised a SkyLoft, a round of golf at Shadow Creek for all of us, Lady Gaga floor tickets (might pass on these), cabana everyday, all meals, and bottle service at clubs nightly. Needless to say this guy gambles a lot so I am looking forward to not paying for a thing and watching someone else win/lose a lot of money besides me. Any of yall ever played Shadow Creek?

I was cringing at the mention of 6:5 blackjack, but other than that, great score at Wynn (aside from the $1500 loss for the bachelor). That sucks about half the group taking off and doing their own thing at the strip club(s), and not helping out for the price of bottle service. That's one thing that typically bothers me too when the group is a little too large.

nice report, looking forward to the next one :) Nothing like taking advantage of someone else's comps (well besides taking advantage of your own.)

Shadow Creek is really nice, you will enjoy it. I have never played golf in Vegas at the peak of summer, just can't play in 100+ weather

Great report but definitely want to hear back on the trip with your friend's uncle. Bachelor parties always seem to work out where there are few tight wads and few guys that take it upon themselves to make sure it is a good time.
