Are you allowed to bet both sides when you're solo at the table or is it something the casino looks down upon?

How many free hands are you allowed to see at the beginning of a shoe?

I'm a streak bettor so a lot of times on choppy or weird shoes, I'd rather just see some free hands instead of throwing out bets I'm not comfortable with.

The answer is casino dependent so there is no blanket answer. Some do, some don't, you'll just have to ask. I'm not in Vegas enough to tell you which do what, I just know at my "local" casinos (Indiana Riverboats) the answer is no to both.

At the Aria, I've seen a player bet $125 on one side and $100 on the other side in the high limit area at a $100 minimum table. He clearly only wanted to bet $25 but wanted the amenities of the high limit lounge (food station, better drink service). I'm not sure how the pit rated his play but my guess is only $25 per hand.

As for free hands, if other people are playing, you can have as many free hands as you want. If you're the only player, I have never seen a pit place a limit on the number of consecutive free hands, but I also have never taken more than a couple in a row

why would you ever bet both sides?

you're just giving the casino money by increasing the HA.

in Vegas they will give you as many free hands as you want at any time.

it's normal to take 20-30 free hands a shoe if you're playing alone or with partners.

other places like the Beau have stupid rules like only 3 free hands a shoe or whatever.

I wouldn't, but this guy obviously thought it was worth it to have the amenities of being in the high limit lounge at the Aria., while only risking $25 per hand, instead of $100.

whatever, that guy is an idiot.

but to FXT, if you bet $100 and $125 you just increased the vig to 20%.

come to my house and I'll deal to you all day at those numbers.

the only reason to bet both sides is to wash promo chips.

    and, yes, this is allowed.

I guess I'll have to ask the dealers how they do it at the D and GN.

If they don't give out free hands or limit them, losing the vig seems to be a far better option than losing an entire unit per bet.

not sure about GN but the D Pit manager told me 3 free hands. On the strip it was unlimited but you can't keep free handing or they will say something.

never had an issue taking several free hands in a row.

obviously it depends on who you are, how much you're betting etc.

if you're taking 50 free hands to look for 1 pattern you like and place 1 bet and then take another 50 free hands,

they'll probably get tired of it.

if they limit the free hands, they're likely not to let you bet both sides just to take a hand.

    just go somewhere else.

it's not worth putting up with that crap.

that's why I stopped going to the Beau and haven't been back in 2 years.

True. Wish they had more bac options downtown.

Yeah, there's no real advantage of watching the cards so you're always supposed to be able to skip as many hands as you want.

There is a high limit area. To the north side of the casino. It is on a raised floor. Up a ramp.

There is three. Black jack tables and one baccarat. Table
