I just had a thought about the commission on a winning Banker bet at Baccarat.

I understand that most players would be betting in multiples of $100 but what if someone puts down a bet of $250 or $1050, or even $1025. We all know that some gamblers have a strange or superstitious approach to playing the game.

5% of $250 is $12.50, 5% of $1025 is $51.25. How does the dealer keep track of odd amounts like that? Do they round up/down to the nearest $1/$5 or use a different approach? Anyone know?

As I was typing I realised that this issue must come up all the time at the mini-bacc tables with low minimums.

Some mini bac tables actually keep rolls of quarters at the table to keep track of those types of commissions. But being one of those players that sometimes places odd sized bets at the midi tables, I know they usually round down and then add an extra dollar (or whatever the denomination may be) when I have won four banker hands

lower limit tables they do use singles and quarters and track the commission to the penny. high limit tables they round everything to the $5. if the dealer likes you they will always round down. if the dealer is a bitch or just doesn't like you, they will alternate rounding up then down which is what the casino rule is.

Also, much like I sometimes wondered how Blackjack dealers can calculate my hand faster than I can (I have a master's in engineering) I've come to realize I could probably do it just as fast if that's ALL I DID, ALL DAY, EVERYDAY.

Same with Roulette. Sure it takes some skill, but I think if it's all you do you get quick at calculating exact payouts fast.
