    My Trip Report

Figured I'd write up my goods and bads for the weekend because, well, because why the hell not? I'm not ready to get into "back to work mode" yet :drunk:

Got in Wednesday night at MGM where we always stay due to free rooms, credits and what not. Found out we just missed the tide of people backed up for a long, long time due to all of the MGM property computers going tits up sometime mid afternoon. Our check in was relatively painless. Played some that night, got my first taste of what was to be a slow bleed at the craps tables for the weekend.

Thursday headed over to the Aria and Cosmo, I really dig both of them, played for a little while at Cosmo at an empty craps table (thanks to this message board I finally started tipping the dealers properly so there was good conversation but not much in the way of winnings. The wifey was off at the slots.

Thursday night we headed back to our room and then headed to Spago at Caesars Forum shops for our Anniversary dinner, we had our wedding reception there back in 2010 and go back every year for our anniversary. The food is impeccable and the staff excellent. Walked about even as far as gambling goes.

Friday hit the spa for a couple's massage and then took the wifey to the Justin Timberlake concert (she's preggos and can't drink it up and party like usual so this was her big thing to look forward to this vacation). I don't listen to JT's music much but I can appreciate a performer that knows how to put on a good show. And every woman in the MGM Arena was dressed to the nines

Saturday we overslept until about 1 in the afternoon due to the previous nights antics building up. We grabbed some lunch and then got ready for the wedding of a girlfriend of the wifey's at the Stratosphere . The Strat was nice enough, glad I got to see the view from the top where the ceremony and dinner were held but otherwise I don't anticipate going back.

Returned to the MGM for the last night of gambling before Sunday's departure. FINALLY hit a positive session at the craps table; I don't have any illusions about Vegas, we don't gamble with the mortgage money or anything like that and are fine with what we spend/lose, but it's still nice to leave the table at least once with a healthy stack of chips. Me (from Dallas) and the guy next to me from San Antonio were bullshitting about the Mavs and Spurs and both went on healthy streaks (not frank67 type rolls but very profitable none the less). Crashed at about 4AM to get up for the flight home a few hours later and happy I would have a little cash in my pocket.

Overall great trip. Already trying to see if I can sneak in one more before the baby comes January :)

Congrats and thanks for the report.

I like reading the ones with some craps stories! How did you like the Cosmo crews? I have always found them enjoyable to play with

    Thanks.

The Cosmo crews were nice and chatty but granted it was only 11:30 AM on a Thursday so they were pretty bored. The craps dealer was going through the usuals: where from, where staying, etc... then we started talking a bit about football since the camps were going and most of the TVs were running coverage. When he was relieved I noticed he mentioned to the next dealer I was tipping, which was nice that they took notice, not that it mattered much since I didn't have a players card.

As far as black jack goes, I know there have been several threads about the changes of casinos going from 3/2 to 6/5 payouts for most games. I came up to the first 10 dollar table, it was full, looked like a good crowd but the felt was printed that it was a 6/5 table. The VERY NEXT table over was also a 10 dollar table but with a 3/2 payout (no placard or printing on felt, I just asked the dealer) but there were only two other players there before I sat down, go figure. This dealer was amiable enough but had a disinterested air about him. The guy next to me was having a players card made up and when the card and license came back the dealer looked at it and decided it wasn't a very good picture, the dealer proceeded to ride the guy about it for next 20 minutes. It was good natured but after a while I could tell the guy was starting to get a little offended. I busted out and, waited for my drink and bailed.

I like the Cosmo, nice staff, and cool d├ęcor, I'd definitely play there again.

I think that when you see 6:5 tables full of people, they don't know how much worse off it is over 3:2 payouts. That's why higher limit tables pay 3:2. People who play at a higher limit generally know to stay away from 6:5. And people who play 6:5, don't generally play at the higher limits.
